"Paul I told you I have to work today," I mumbled into the phone that was squished between my shoulder and face.

"Come on Cay, just this once. I know how much you love the beach and you've been all stressy and lame lately." He pleaded back.

"Fine! But you have to wait until my shift is over, okay?"

"Deal! And no takesy backsies!"I could practically hear him grinning over the phone.

"Yeah yeah you big baby. See ya soon." Finally off the phone I spun around in a circle on my spinny chair. I loved working at the bookstore, I really did. I was surrounded by books and mostly silence since no one ever came in. But sometimes I wish it could be a little more entertaining.

Surprisingly, the bell chimed, signaling my first customer of the day. She was about average height with longish brown hair. She also looked very lost as she stumbled over the leg of a chair on the way over to my desk.

"H-hello. Um, I was wondering if you had any books on Quileute legends?" she asked quietly. It made me wonder if that's how I came across to other people besides Paul and Gran. My naturally quiet and reserved state must have been awkward as well.

"If we do they might be over in that section. I can look in the back if you don't find one." I replied. She simply nodded and walked in the direction I had pointed. About ten minutes later she came walking back up to the desk with no book in hand. So I just held up one finger and went to the back. Still having no luck.

"Sorry, we don't have anything right now." I wanted to ask what it was for but I didn't want to bother her. My shyness taking over.

"It's okay. I'm Bella by the way." she said with an awkward smile.

"I'm Caylee. I hope you find your book." I smiled back, probably looking like a weird rat.

"Thanks, is it alright if I get your number or something? Just in case you might get one in and I can ask." I nodded nervous. Was she trying to be my friend? I really couldn't tell. My people skills are seriously lacking. Regardless, I scribbled it down, cringing at my bad handwriting.

What happened next I hadn't expected. I didn't think she would find some way to trip trying to grab the piece of paper from me. To my unluckiness she did though. To stabilize herself in some way she grabbed my wrist, not the paper, causing me to gasp and step back. But it was already too late.

In a room full of mirrors I'm writhing in pain. I hear a sickening crack in my leg and I screech. My leg is bent in an awkward angle and I can feel blood coming out of random cuts. A man with blonde hair is in my face, screaming at me to tell Edward something. He's suddenly ripped away from me and I can hear thrashing and growling going on, but the pain in my body isn't letting me concentrate.  A boy tries to pick me up but is thrown down. I can feel glass being embedded into my body and I pull a large shard out of my leg, blood gushing out of it.

It's not long before I see the man again, a sinister look in his eyes as he reaches for my wrist and bites it, releasing some kind of fire into my veins. The pain is indescribable. Screaming and grunting as I try to gasp for some sort of air but failing. The fire burning in my veins is terrible. Spreading all over my body. I don't know much of what's happening next but the boy I recognize that was trying to save me earlier now has his mouth wrapped on the bite mark, as if pulling the fire out.

Slowly I feel myself drifting, spiraling away from consciousness and away from everything else. I can't hear anything anymore, but the fire is gone. I'm feeling peaceful, light. Almost floating it seems. And then, it's black.

I gasp hard, struggling to breathe as I hear a background noise. Shaking my head. No no no, I just met this girl. She can't die. I didn't want to watch her die. She's my age, she can't die.

"Caylee! I'm sorry! Are you okay? I-I didn't mean to I'm sorry. Oh, I'll just go. Thank you for the help." she rushed out and began moving towards the door.

"Bella! Bella wait! Don't go there. The place with the mirrors please. Please listen, it doesn't make sense now but don't." I struggled to find the words. She looked back at me confused and frightened, before turning and rushing out the door.
