Standing in the mirror I could barely recognize myself. My body had filled out more, looking more healthy compared to the ill and dull look I had previously from being so sick. Hair was more vibrant and skin clear. But what really surprised me was the eyes. Looking back at me was not the bright red eyes of a newborn vampire.

Instead, they were a vibrant emerald green, a thick golden circle similar to the Cullens was around my pupal. Staring at them in the mirror I could understand the shock from the other's in the room when I had woken up.

"Why are they like that?"

Jasper cautiously stepped forward, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me into his side. "We don't know. Carlisle wanted your permission to see if your skin can be penetrated for blood work. It's nothing like he's ever seen before."

I stopped before he tried to pull away, tugging his face down to look at me. "You did it," I smiled only to be met with confusion. "I knew you were strong enough, you just had to believe in something bigger than your thirst. That's why I had Carlisle promise not to change me."

Jasper looked over my face intently before gazing into my eyes once again. "You are incredible. In every way imaginable." He melted into me, his skin no longer a stone-like texture, no longer cold to the touch. The comfortable temperature of his body was all-encompassing, filling me to the brim with the happiness that flooded from him, and his embrace having only one word I could use to describe it perfectly; home.

"Where is everyone else? Paul and Jared left?"

"They're anxiously waiting at home to see you. Alice convinced them to give us some privacy first."

I snorted. "Sure. Convinced."

Walking through the door to the Cullen home was hectic. First, Emmett literally tackled Paul so he could get to me first, lifting me up and spinning me around with loud sounds that sounded like dry sobbing. Then Alice knocked Paul over to get to me, her voice jingling in joy getting to see me. Finally, when Jared tried to walk towards me Paul shoved him over the couch.

"Oh my god, I missed you! I can't believe you're even more of a freak now but holy fuck am I just glad you aren't dead. I was gonna have to kill you if you left me alone with these morons."

I laughed, hugging Paul closer to my body and taking in his scent. He didn't smell nearly as bad as everyone else said. He just smelled like Paul. For the hour that followed, everyone said their hellos and gave me much needed hugs and affection, before someone, cough cough Emmett, announced how cool it was to have so many vampires standing with them in front of the Volturi.

"You WHAT?" My voice bounced off the walls as I turned to Jasper.

"D-darlin' we couldn't exactly wait for you - you were kinda er, asleep, in a way."

"You could have DIED! You could have ALL died! What was I supposed to do if I just woke up and literally everyone was dead Jasper?" It wasn't so much that I was mad that I wasn't there, even though I kind of was because I loved all of them as a family and they needed all the support they could get at the time. It was because of the harm that could have come to them, and I wouldn't have been able to help or try to stop it. The thought of losing any of them made my heart want to shatter into a million pieces.

Emmett peeked over the couch, "She's kinda got a point."

"Cay, you don't think you're overreacting just a little?" Paul chimed in.

Reeling on him, I felt an unfamiliar feeling pulsing through my veins, a snarl pouring out of my mouth before I could stop it. I could feel my body temperature rising as the other members in the house started mumbling frantically, being drowned out by the sound thumping in my ears. My heart that had not been beating since I had woken up, started slowly reverberating as I watched Paul shrink away from me, trying his best to move out of my way.

Then all at once a tear broke through the room. I fell to the floor with a loud thud, but I was no longer standing on two feet. My eyesight wasn't the same, somehow it was even more enhanced, narrowing in on Paul as he stared at me in utter confusion. A deep growl grew in my chest the more I thought about my loved ones being murdered at the hands of a stupid vampire government that looked more like an awful theater group.

"Hey, baby. Look at me, look at me." Jasper's voice sounded from behind me, and when I turned he let out a small breathless laugh from disbelief. "I'm gonna calm you down now, okay? Look around, everyone is fine and safe darlin'." A low whine grew from the back of my throat as if to argue, but it was quickly resolved by the calm feelings Jasper threw at me.

I could feel myself shrinking back to normal, hear my heart return back to it's dormant state and the normal vampire sight and hearing come back. Alice was quickly behind me, a blanket thrown over my shoulders to cover my bare body.

"Did I-"

"You did." Jasper was looking at me with eyes that looked almost proud, filled with love and admiration.

"If you don't mind, after you get dressed and recuperated we can possibly do some research, try to figure out what exactly is going on," Carlisle spoke gently, making me nod in agreement. In passing, I gave an apology to Paul, who gladly accepted and had a smile almost as goofy as Emmett's, who had begun hooting and hollering about how cool his new sister was.

A week later, and lots of research done, we came to the conclusion after some blood samples, that I was some sort of hybrid  like Nessie. The venom in my system counteracted the traces of shapeshifter Paul had left in my bloodstream after my transfusion months ago. The shapeshifter part in my blood had done damage to my human self, making my body sick as it tried to battle itself and Paul's blood that had also been trying to activate due to me being around the vampires. Much like how because the Cullen's had moved back it activated the shifting genes in the wolf pack.

When my body was trying to rid itself of the blood, the wolf cells were healing itself, and in turn multiplying. Once Jasper's venom had entered the stream, it killed off the human bits but couldn't kill off all the wolf cells, as they just kept regenerating. The venom still reached my heart, which is what caused the final bits of my newborn trasformation, but the wolf parts remained.

We believe that my being alive and making it all the way to waking up is a sign. A sign that I would be able to live forever and without problems regardless of both pieces remaining in my body. The eternity thing wasn't really a concern seeing as the wolves can shift and not age anyway and the vampire part in me was going to be stuck as an 18 year old regardless. The main cause of worry had been about the Volturi after all they went through with Nessie, but Carlisle believes that because of my unique eye color and ability to shapeshift, we'd be able to fly under the radar, and like the conflict they just had, if they will come back for us they will be coming regardless of if its for me or not. And once again we will be ready.

In the end, it didn't matter with my chosen family. Both the pack and the Cullen's loved me and were glad that I was back with them and out of harms way once again.

"You know," Jasper hummed in my ear a few weeks after we found out. We were cuddling on the same balcony sofa I had fallen asleep on that first night I shared my past with Alice. The night Jasper told me I was his mate, granted I was asleep, and the night my feelings were completely in the open for him to read, he already knew of the love I had for him before I did.

"What?" I looked up at him smiling. Of course, his smug face had a smirk on it.

"You still owe me a wedding."
