I huffed angrily as the heater in the house refused to turn on. It was gonna be a long and cold night without my usual company. My stress levels were already high and now the electricity in my house had been shut off due to a late payment.

The bookshop I worked at closed a few weeks ago and my few shifts at the diner weren't enough to pay all the bills and help feed my wolfy babysitters. The nerves of having to sort through what money I had to keep the home running showed every time I was with Jasper. Instantly feeling the waves of stress seeping off of me I tried to convince him it was just about the upcoming battle with the newborns.

"Jesus, Cay. If I can tell it's cold in here, you must be an icicle," Paul spoke loudly as he walked in. He immediately walked over to the couch to grab a blanket and wrap me in it before hugging me close.

"Stop hogging her! I wanna talk to her too!" Jared's voice cried from behind. They both came to give a final goodbye before setting off to help the Cullens. Sam came too, obviously trying to keep them on time and as tame as possible.

"She's MY best friend Jared, back off."

"Would you two stop arguing. Paul, release," I joked. He reluctantly did so and Jared happily made his way over to talk to me without interruption. After a few more minutes of joking and Jared trying to convince me to hug him, they finally had to go. I had spoken to the Cullens earlier in the day and my heart was starting to ache watching everyone leave.

"Sam," He looked over at me. "Keep my boys safe please."

"I will. And turn on the heater will ya. Don't need you getting sick again and freaking them out."

The house was quiet. There was nothing to do other than sit around or clean. A short phone call to the electric company earlier in the day said they could turn it on sometime tomorrow. I guess I should just be grateful that the house itself was paid off.

Hugging the blanket closer to my body, I made my way up the stairs. Passing by Gran's door I couldn't help but stop. My body felt heavy, and despite the cold air that nipped at my skin I also began to feel hot. Turning the doorknob slowly, her room looked the same. No one dared enter after what happened.

The bed was made as usual. Except a woven blanket we had made together a month after my arrival. The rocking chair was still facing towards the window. It hurt. Being able to move around Gran's room and touch things without being yelled at made my eyes well up.

Grabbing the blanket from the bed I sat in the chair, rocking slowly and peacefully, soon letting my exhaustion take me.

It was dark when I woke up. Not being able to use natural lighting was a problem on my journey to the bathroom. My head felt dizzy, and my stomach woozy. Trying to use the walls as a guide to safely make it to the toilet before getting sick.

I was successful, but the feeling that overcame me was worse. My stomach poured through my throat and into the bowl and left a disgusting taste in my mouth. Along with my constant state of shivering I could felt a wet substance dripping from my nose. It felt like my brain was outgrowing my skull and I didn't bother to get up from the bathroom floor before falling asleep once again.

I've been going through a rough time mentally lately so this is only a short filler chapter for now <3
