"Please wake up, please wake up."
My body was achy and my heartbeat seemed to be thumping in my head. Reluctantly, my eyes fluttered open, struggling to adjust under the bright lights.
"Oh thank God. Can you hear me baby? Carlisle do something," Jasper's voice was panicked. I was beyond confused. Looking around I could see Carlisle's office in the Cullen home, not at all where I thought I'd be. Jasper leaned up, pressing a kiss to my forehead before going all over my face, then holding so he could push his own into my neck. His whole body was shaking.
"Son, give her some room. We need to talk." Wordlessly, my vampire boyfriend moved away and instead held my hand. "Caylee what's the last thing you remember?"
The question hit me like a ton of bricks. I could feel the tears making their way and they fell shamelessly down my face. "I - well you - and the place," my words weren't coming out right and I kept pausing trying to gather my thoughts. "You left me there. In another one of those places, and she came in and he had the stick. It felt so real." A choked sob came from my mouth as Jasper looked down at me in horror.
"Darlin' I would never. I would never let anyone take you back to a place like that, I swear. I'm so sorry." I was confused. I never had dreams like that, and it felt so real. A deep pain fell through me and it made my stomach churn.
Carlisle looked down at us nervously, watching as we held tightly to the other and overheard as Jasper tried to whisper soothing words into my ear. "There's something wrong. I had to do some blood work while you were out and it didn't come back good. I'm not sure what exactly is wrong, or making it react this way, but the blood Paul gave you for your transfusion is attacking your body. As a way of defense your body is trying desperately to rid itself of it, rejecting it in a way. However, the other blood cells from the transfusion have reproduced rapidly, much faster than your body can handle and well.."
His voice trailed off and before I could stop it Jasper had flipped the table next to me, sending it flying into the wall and smashing into pieces. "We're not doing this again! You never told me you put that mutts blood in her body!"
"Jas - "
"I had no other choice. It was either that or she was gonna die in that hospital before you even got to meet her. I had to do something."
Jasper growled viciously, running so quickly and slamming his adoptive father against the wall. Carlisle let him, taking in his son's harsh words as everyone else came in. "Jasper stop!" I shouted, trying to stand up and failing miserably. Right away Alice was on one side of me and Emmett on the other.
He turned to me, a guilty look in his eyes. "I'm sorry," he turned to Carlisle, "I'm sorry," he repeated. Sliding his body down the wall he sat, staring at the floor.
Alice looked at me, brushing hair away from my face with a disappointed look. Meanwhile Emmett refused to look at me altogether. "You have to think about what you want to do. It's your choice."
"I need to speak to Carlisle alone."
-------------------------
"Jasper you need to stop sulking and come cuddle or I'm going to start throwing things at you."
"How can you speak like that? You're dying." I reached up, threading my fingers through his hair gently. He sighed, laying down beside me in defeat.
"Have you decided?" He asked quietly making me nod. "Please don't leave me." His voice was childlike and his grip on me tightened.
I sat up a little, still running my fingers through his hair. "Carlisle says he's not sure if turning me would even work. Something about the vampire venom and the already problematic wolfy blood or whatever. Whatever's meant to happen will happen Jas, I promise."
Not even ten minutes after our cuddle session I got sick again. Throwing up repeatedly and another bloody nose. No matter how many times I apologized it didn't matter. The family members that still weren't comfortable with blood would leave, as to not make Jasper's thirst worse with their own.
"I'm sorry," I mumbled again as he rubbed my back. "Jasper?"
"Yes darlin'?"
I looked down, nervous already by my next question. "It's just that, well really -" I rambled some more. "I don't want to possibly not make it and have not done it."
His eyes widened tremendously as Emmett barged in. "Oh no! There will be no more vampire and human sex in this house do you hear me!"
"Emmett, no! That's not what I meant!" Emmett visibly relaxed, shoulders slumping down as he looked back and forth between Jasper and me.
"Not what you, right alright, well then. Carry on." And with that he left the room again.
"Just to clarify, we won't be having sex right?" I gave Jasper a little shove at his comment.
I coughed awkwardly.
"I want to marry you."
