| Savanna |
I was left alone in the room with the woman. The room had a velvet headed bed, silk sheets and looked way too luxury to be in a place like this. She had a vanity with a whole Sephora store of makeup up for grabs, wigs aligned the shelves and a whole wall dedicated to racks and racks of clothes and heels.
Kinda looked like a drag queens layer and had this been in a tv program about makeup and luxury, I'd be all for it however, unfortunately, this was not that.
"Now that he is gone, let me start by introducing myself, I know you're confused and probably scared but I can assure you that as soon as you come to terms with what is happening and learn to accept it... the better you will be" It didn't even sound like she was convincing herself of what she was saying, it was like she was reading off of a script, trying to keep up an act that even I wasn't buying.
Nevertheless, she pulled out the chair which sat against the vanity, the chair was the typical 'directors' chair or the ones models sat on when they were getting their makeup done,
"Come, sit"
I followed her and sat down, I had to do something... she was a woman and she was not as intimidating as the men out there and so I took this as my chance to get out of here. But then it hit me, where would I even go?
She began combing through my tangled hair softly making me flinch away, the sudden contact catching me of guard making her look at me with shock "Relax princesa, I ain't gonna hurt you" She chuckled and continued combing.
"My name is Jaqueline Rosé, but you can call me Ro... everyone does," she paused,
"Would you rather be called Savanna or Sav for short? Whatever you like best" The only person who called me by my full name as Savannah was Jason, everyone used Sav commonly as it was shorter however, Jason always told me he found my full name beautiful and whenever he said it, it sounded perfect rolling off of his tongue.
"I don't mind" I said just above a whisper, the memory of Jason threatening tears from my eyes.
"Sav it is" she said, cheerfully.
"Why am I here? I want to go home" I said, looking up at her with tears in my eyes. I felt like a little child wanting to return back to her mother after being dropped off at kindergarten. But right now, all I wanted was Jason. My home.
"Oh no no no sweetheart, pretty girls don't cry!" She hushed, wiping away the tear that escaped my eye. I was so confused and my pounding headache only made matters worse.
"You were chosen... you may not understand now but as I said, you must accept it in order to cope with it"
"What do they want from me? They don't even know who I am" I spoke, my voice cracking as she shook her head.
"We all know who you are, princesa" She has an American accent and so it told me she was not originally from here but the use of Spanish I believed, told me she had been here a while to have learnt the language.
"How?"
"Simple. You're Jason McCann's girl."
My eyes widened as she looked at me with a raised brow, she knew Jason too? Was I the only one unaware of what was actually happening and failed to see the 'coping' side to it. Because there was none.
"That man who brought you in here? His name is AJ, he may seem cool and collected but trust me honey, you do not want to get on the wrong side of him... I guess his anger might be common for you since you live with it everyday" The last part made me confused as I displayed it on my face,
"Don't tell me you don't know" She looked shock, as if this was a gossip section and she was spilling some major tea. "I don't know what?" I asked in response,
"AJ is Jason McCann's biological father, why else do you think he'd have men travel all the way to Canada to specially collect you and bring you back here... in this world, you're worth thousands, if not millions"
Her words left me in a whirlwind of shock. The man who resembled Jason's features so much was truly his father? The father that Jason despised? The man who beat and abused his mother to death and made Jason's life hell leading him to the world of crime? They wanted me because I belonged to Jason, because they knew Jason's only weakness was me.
Only me.
"Oh don't look so surprised Sav, a girl like you, American, hispanic, curvy yet slim with the most beautiful face... heck, if I had the money, I'd buy you myself" She laughed as she pushed my hair in front of my shoulders, letting it fall ahead of me.
"What do you do here Ro?"
She paused as she was turned facing the mirror putting her comb away, slowly looking at me through the mirror she almost was at a loss for words.
"I do what I'm supposed to do Sav... please men to make a living"
I was mortified. This was no life for a woman, regardless of gender, sexuality, appearance or culture, this was NOT okay.
"What am I doing here?" I didn't want to hear the answer because just the thought made my skin crawl, sending shivers down my spine as she turned to look at me.
"Your man has fucked off a whole lot of people in his life. Although he may be powerful and feared by most, there will come a day where that power will get him killed because people hate to see him succeeding. McCann has never shown weakness to anybody and anything, apart from you, he is cold. Ever noticed why although his life is filled with men who could easily take you from him... you've never truly been taken advantage off by others?" She paused,
It was true. I knew Jason's world was dangerous and the people in it had no mercy, my friends even wondered how he managed to keep me out of it and heck, it even crossed my mind.
"Because everybody fears Jason McCann. Everybody apart from his father. Well, he says he doesn't fear him but we all know there's a part of him that does, however, he is the only one who has challenged that fear, and I guess he's succeeded because here you are, in Brazil, far away from McCann. I'm sorry to break it to you, but once you're in the trafficking life... it's almost impossible to be taken out of it."
My heart almost fell to the pit of my stomach as she word 'trafficking' left her mouth. This was not happening.
"You will be put in situations that you mustn't fight. Just let them happen. I know you're young, but you aren't the youngest girl here so don't think that's your advantage. You will be luckier if you're sold to one buyer, rather than multiple because that's when it gets worse. But please Sav, don't fight it. Comply, or you will be killed."
I couldn't believe the things I was hearing.
Our heads turned as the door flung open, she stood up straight and flaunted towards, the man, AJ, putting on a smile as if she hadn't just been talking crap about him 2 seconds ago.
"She's all set and ready to go boss, any buyers?" She asked, her tone of voice changed so quickly.
"Plenty" He smirked.
With that, two men marched towards me, one held me bound and the other stood over me, as I struggled for air and a chance to break free of his tight hold, I bit down on to his hand as hard as I could causing him to hiss and let go.
"Puta!" He yelled and his fist connected with my face. I felt my jaw crack sending me to the ground and with a blow to my rib with his heavy boot, I was rendered unconscious.
Again.
