We found what looked like an abandoned shed in the middle of an allotment, the land was pretty much empty and the dilapidated shed was the only source of free shelter we could find. Going in to anyones home was too dangerous as Eva had told me people would know where and what we had come from by the state of our clothes and my injury.
I can't say I was comfortable but I was better than before.
The night was long and although we didn't know what time it was exactly, it felt as if it was almost sunrise as my eyes threatened to close. I was almost asleep until I heard the door slam shut, Eva now stood by it with her ear pressed against it.
"What's going-" "Shh!" She hushed almost instantly as I slowly stood up.
"They're here."
My eyes widened and my heart began to pound against my chest, suddenly beginning to shake in fear as the thought of them finding us again was too much for me to cope with.
The sound of footsteps caved around us, just as we thought they were nearing, I heard a call from the distance. Someone said something in Portuguese making the footsteps turn away.
"They said they found blood at the end of the field... they're going"
A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I held my forehead in my hand, "We need to leave" she said as she picked up the water bottle we were kindly given by an old man at a store we passed who saw the state we were in.
"Have some water, you've barely had any" She said handing me the bottle, I hesitantly drank feeling bad for finishing it although I hadn't had any yet, I wanted to give more to Eva who actually fixed a part of the shed up so that we could get inside. As I said, it was old.
"Why do we need to leave? They're gone Eva" I told her as she turned towards the door.
"Yeah, for now. They saw blood in the area and it's only a matter of time where they find us in the only shelter in the area" She spoke, it did make sense however the thought of leaving the somewhat safety of the wooden walls made my skin crawl.
I slowly nodded before I stood up properly, my leg feeling numb from the pain that I was still in as I stumbled over to her, she slowly opened the door and we quietly left.
As we turned around, we both froze.
Ahead of us was what looked like a literal army of men standing guard with guns in hand. Ahead of them was AJ, standing tall.
"Stupid girls" He laughed. They were here all along? They just said there was blood elsewhere to fool us in coming out? And we fell for it stupidly.
I gulped, looking at Eva and then back at the men in fear.
"Take her back to the building. I'll deal with this one." With that, two men grabbed a hold of Eva who tried so desperately to stay with me as I held on to her, they pushed me off her causing me to stumble back.
What did he mean by 'deal'.
I watched as they left with her fighting, her screams could be heard from the distance as they now became blurred figures far far away.
It was just me and him.
"Wha-what do you want w-with me? I'm no use to you anymore" I told him referring to my injured leg and possibly cracked rib. I was not the girl he said he wanted as he said he needed girls with no imperfections.
I had them all.
He simply chuckled, walking towards me,
"That's for me to decide. You're still my son's girl, I can't let you go that easily" And with that, he pulled out a black object from his pocket, a gun. Using the barrel part, he swung it across my face and before I knew it, I was knocked out.
