The point of view will be changing from Becca to Silas every chapter. Please share and vote for my story! I hope you like it, (It's the first one I've written so I'd love some feedback in the comments) thanks! xxx Mona

"She saw me." Nobody could see me, it was completely impossible. I ran my hand through my black hair in frustration. The only humans who could see me were Seeing Ones. "Perhaps she is one." I muttered. I haven't come across one of those for at least a century. My family must be alerted immediately. My kind of immortal species live on the earth, invisible to others unless we allow them to see us. We have both a physical and natural form. We might be invisible to other creatures, but we are roaming the earth, taking a soul with us each day. Faded Shadows look exactly like regular human figures, we are sort of like "ghosts". The thing is, we never died and we never actually "lived." We could be classified as Borderline Creatures. Meaning, that we are   the lines between life and death.  Being alive is such an overrated word; one does not need to be alive to actually live. We are neither alive nor dead, but just as real as anything. The reason why I say that we are like ghosts is because ghosts are unseen to the human eye and are creatures that blend into the shadows. Our name is the Faded Shadows because of that reason. We blend into the shadows like ghosts. The word "faded" comes from the fact that we have never existed as humans or lived, like I've said. The main difference between the ghosts and Faded Shadows is that we still have a physical form. We are basically half "alive" because we have physical forms and half "dead" because we have our true forms; the form that is invisible to other creatures. They way we can let other creatures besides our own see us, is by changing into our physical form. It is not a button we press so that they can see, feel and hear us, it is a change that needs to be triggered. It is like how a werewolf changes from human from to wolf. We change from our shadow form to our visible form. The way we do it is by believing and feeling as if you are a solid thing. That is one of the first things adult Shadows teach their young; how to change forms. If we didn't have a physical form as well, what proof is there that we exist? We could end up just being a myth. Since we never really lived, it means we don't have a soul so we must feed off the souls of other living creatures in order to survive. Each creature's soul hides in their eyes, mortal or immortal; if you look deep enough you may see or feel a glimmer of somebody's soul. A mortal will ignore the abnormal presence of somebody's soul; an immortal will notice and accept the feeling. They may not do anything about the presence but they know it is real. But not my kind, if you look into our eyes, all you may see are empty pits of nothing. No reflection, no shimmer, nothing. That's because we are soulless creatures, we have no soul that inhabit us. That is why we take souls from others, to keep ourselves alive. Without a soul, whether you are immortal or mortal you will lose your presence on earth. Usually, when a mortal dies from a regular death, the souls rises to find its place in heaven or hell. But when we take their soul, the soul is trapped within us, and then it slowly fades away. That's why we need to feed again, to gain another soul, to stay living longer. When we are in our true forms and invisible from the visions of other creatures besides our own, we can roam freely without being seen. But at the brink of death, a creature can see us while we are in our regular form. As I crossed the street, I noticed a car backing off of a driveway; its trunk only a metre away from where I was standing. Objects, solid or liquid, go straight through me while in natural form. So, the car should've gone straight through me; but it didn't. In the last moment before impact, I realized I was in my physical form; I shouldn't have, but I was. Before I could change visibilities, the car hit.
