The talk I had with Jules went better than I thought it would. There were no tears shed, only words. Jules had understood everything I said and he tried his best to contain his anger. It surprised me how calm and controlled he was, but I was pretty sure that most of it was just an act. When we had almost finished speaking, he had told me something that I knew he truly believed. He had told me that not only did he not really like Silas, but he believed that Silas was dangerous. When I had first met Silas, I got the feeling that he was a person of mystery but it never really occurred to me that he might be dangerous. Jules had warned me with such strength in his words that I knew he was not kidding. I didn’t want to argue with him and risk our friendship again so I said “Okay” That hadn’t been good enough for him and he made me promise; I promised. He was satisfied with my answer and left to clean up the glass from off the floor. I looked around the kitchen and saw Silas, I gave him a hesitant smile and he walked closer to me and put a glass cup in the sink. I stepped closer to him and he embraced me with a hug. I breathed in his scent and closed my eyes. He smelled fresh and calming like a pine tree in the morning after a rain storm. I heard him whisper something to me but it was so soft and quite that I hadn’t even heard what he said. Deciding to let his words slide, I kept hugging him. When we broke apart, he took my hands, leaned towards me and placed a soft kiss on my forehead. The corners of my mouth went up and formed a small smile. Though it was small, it was enough for Silas to smile back. “You better find your friends Bec; they’re probably worried by now.” I heard Silas say. I realized that I’ve never really introduced Silas to my friends before so I asked him “Why don’t you come with me?” He paused a moment to think then said “Sure” He took my hand in his and we walked to the main section of the house. When I looked around for Elena or Lux, I didn’t see them so I took Silas to the basement to look for them there. I walked around the basement in search of either them but again, they weren’t there. The thought that they had left the party crossed my mind but I knew that they wouldn’t leave without telling me. Elena loved spending time in Jules’s wine cellar so I told Silas that was where we were going next. “They have a wine pantry and cellar?” he asked with wide eyes. I gave a light laugh and said “Yeah, his mom is a wine maker.” His mouthed formed an O shape and he nodded. “Do you think they’d notice if I grabbed a bottle of red wine?” He asked me. This time, I laughed harder, “No I don’t think so.” “Sweet” He replied giving me a grin. We entered the cellar and Silas looked around the room in awe. I guessed he really liked alcohol. My thoughts must’ve been shown through my face because Silas said “No, I’m not an alcoholic, I just have a great appreciation for alcohol; especially wine.” He said almost defensively. “You know we’re technically not even supposed to be drinking? It’s illegal until we’re nineteen.” Without even hesitating he said “The way I see it, you’re drinking illegally if you consume too much alcohol and are drunk or if you don’t have your parents’ approval. But I rarely ever drink too much to make me drunk and my parents know I fine with me drinking.” I raised a brow at him and said “If you say so.” “Well everyone at this party is drinking so the way you put it, they should be arrested immediately.” He pointed an accusing finger at me and continued “So, Becca Thomas, you have the right to remain silent.” I laughed at his official sounding tone and said “I barely drank!” “If you want to follow your rules, you should be spending the rest of your night in a cell.” He responded matter-of-factly. I playfully punched him and he stalked away to the wine shelf. He ran his fingers across the bottles of wine and pulled out a bottle and read the label. Satisfied, he walked back to me while trying to pull of the cork. “You need a cork open-” Before I could finish my sentence, he popped off the cork and looked back at me with a smile “-er...” I said with a laugh. He brought the opening of the bottle to his mouth and took a long drink of the red wine. When he took the bottle away from his lips, his lips slowly unravelled from the opening and he pressed his lips together to form a line. He sighed deeply and smiled. He probably noticed that I’d been staring so he held the bottle in front of me, suggesting that I take a sip. Thinking of how his lips had been on the bottle before, I took the bottle and took a drink of the wine. It was surprisingly good. I’ve never really been a big fan of wine but then again I rarely ever drank red wine. I smiled at him and handed the bottle back. He took it from my hand and our fingers brushed in the exchange, causing my inside to heat up. In the dim lights of the cellar, I could still see every striking feature of him perfectly. The way his lips were curled into a perfect smile, the way his eyes glimmered when he looked at me. I was more confident than ever that I truly loved him. Silas noticed my staring and smiled. Silas stood where he was at the bottom of the stairs and scanned the room again. I took another glance at the room and started to walk up the flight of stair. I was up 3 steps when Silas grabbed my hand. I looked at him to see him pointing at a dark corner in the room. When I looked closer at the corner, I was able to see a silohette of a figure. I let out a small gasp.
