Across from the table I watched Becca take small sips of her drink. Her hair fell beside her face and she tucked it behind her ear. She drank her cocktail, savoring every sip. I watched in awe as her lips wrapped around the glass and the liquids seeped into her mouth. When she looked up at me, I stared into her chocolate coloured eyes. Behind her eyes, her soul was moving around slowly. She looked tired and slightly drunk, her words had started to slur. We all finished with our meals and were getting ready to leave the restaurant. “Do you think Joe will let me get another drink?” Becca asked us. “If you ask nicely, then maybe.” Elena told her. She smiled and called Joe over. “Man, I think she’s drunk.” Troy whispered to me. I laughed and nodded in agreement. Joe walked over and Becca said “Can I get another drink, please?” Joe laughed and asked “Will your mom be okay with it?” She laughed and said “She’s probably fine with it.” Joe nodded. “As long as you don’t drink and drive, I’ll give you another drink.” Becca grinned eagerly. “What’ll it be?” Joe asked her with a smile. “A Martini please.” “Alright, I’ll be back in a few.” Becca finished the last of her meal and wiped off her mouth. She pressed her full lips together to form a content smile. “Don’t drink all of the bourbon as well.” I told her. She rolled her eyes at me and laughed. Her mood had lightened up but it was probably from the alcohol. Joe came back with her drink and took away our plates. “I’ll pay for it.” I told everyone. “It’s alright, it’s on the house.” Becca told me, a small smile forming on her lips. “I insist.” She shrugged and said “Alright, since you insisted.” Troy started to laugh. “What?” She asked. “Do you even know how old Silas and I are?” Troy told her and she shook her head. “What does that have to do with paying for this meal?” Troy just smiled at her. He was about to bring up the other detail of my life that I hadn’t mentioned to Becca. “He is 346 years old this year, and so am I. Basically, what I mean is that he is extremely rich. So there is no need to feel bad about him paying.” I sighed in annoyance. “I don’t feel bad.” Becca told him. “That’s good.” Troy replied. She tried not to show her fear of the knowledge that Troy had just told her by looking down at her drink and taking a large gulp of the liquid. She scrunched up her face and squeezed her eyes shut from the buzz of the alcohol. She let out a breath of relief after her drink. “Shall we go?” I asked. Everyone nodded. I heard Elena whisper something to Becca. “The Troy guy, he is hot but not really my type.” I heard Becca laugh in return. We walked out the doors of the building and into the hot and humid air. “Hey Becca, is it cool if we can just hang out for the day, and we can see the falls when it gets dark out? They falls look better that way.” Her eyes clouded with worry. “I don’t know if I can hang out with you for that long...” She told me. Elena nudged her hard on her side. “I’m sure she’d love to.” “Sure...” Becca mumbled. My spirits dropped in dismay. “You don’t have to come if you don’t want to...” I told her, my voice trailing off. Without Elena suggesting anything to her, she said “Okay. I’ll see you later then Elena?” Elena nodded eagerly and asked Becca for her car keys. She threw the keys to her and we parted. Troy left for his car and walked towards my car. Instead of driving my sports car today, I drove my black jeep. “So you like black cars.” Becca noted out loud. “Yeah” She had her bottle of bourbon in her hands and took a swig from the bottle. “Isn’t too early to be drinking?” I mused. “It’s never too early.” She replied with a drunken smile. Even when she was drunk, she was adorable. We opened the doors to my jeep and sat in the seats. Turning on my stereo, the Arctic Monkeys CD started playing. “You like them?” Becca asked. “Arctic Moneys? Yeah.” I replied. She nodded. After a few minutes of awkward silence, I said “Becca, I really wish there was a way we could work something out. I love you and I need you in my life.” She looked at me from the passenger seat. “I love you too.” I heard her whisper. “You know that for everything I do, it comes to your benefit. Except for loving you, I can’t help but be selfish with that.” Whether she was listening or not, I had to know that I had told her all that needed to be said. “Silas I love you! No matter how much I try to ignore the feeling, I can’t help but love you! It’s a feeling that I can’t control.” Her words brought a certain feeling of life to me. To have her confess her love for me out loud gives me a feeling beyond the average type of love. The amount of love I felt towards her was greater than all the stars in the galaxy. Pulling the car over to the curb, I hit the brakes and cut off the engine. “What the-” Before Becca was able to see anything else; I turned towards her, grabbed her face in my hands and kissed her hard on her mouth. She tasted sweet and fruity. She didn’t even hesitate to kiss me back. She pulled at my hair and my hands went over every part of her torso. “Silas...” She moaned. I moved my mouth down her neck to leave a trail of kisses. When my lips met hers again, she hungrily kissed them. Loving her passion, I kissed her harder until there was no doubt of her not wanting to be with me left. “Let’s go somewhere.” I mumbled into her neck. She nodded in agreement and I started my car and drove off the side. The entire drive, we were both smiling, ear to ear.
