My father let go of her and he straightened out her shirt. “I advise you to surrender now, before we are forced to push violence and death on you.” Valerie laughed. “I’d rather die than surrender to you.” “So you are still going to push a battle, risk lives getting killed?” “These are warriors who rather die than live with Faded Shadows still existing.” She spat. “Okay.” My father changed back into his natural form and morphed back into his own skin. “The vampires are stubborn, the battle is on.” He announced. “The Faded Shadows are here, everybody move!” Valerie shouted. We saw that everyone was moving outside. All of the Faded Shadows followed outside. Without the vampires knowing, we followed them. I saw a few vampires slashing their swords around, hoping to slash one of us. Since they couldn’t see or sense us, the blades went right through us without causing any damage. We laughed pathetically at them. “They won’t back down to this fight, show yourselves!” Valerie yelled into the air. My mom yelled for the first movement to commence. Troy, my father looking as Leonard, myself, a few members of Troy’s distant family and others shifted into physical form. Ten of us were visible and the other fifty of us stayed hidden. “Only ten of you? You are all pathetic!” Valerie yelled to us, Troy smiled. Grabbing hold of one of the vampires with his mind, he made the creature scream in pain and he fell to his knees. “Do you really want to fight?” Troy yelled and at the same time, the vampire who was on his knees started to sputter out blood from his mouth. Valerie looked to the vampire and then back at Troy. “Yes” She responded, gritting her teeth. Using his favourite way of destruction he exploded the vampire’s heart. The vampire’s hands shot to his chest and he fell to his side, dead. All of the first sixty vampires looked at the dead vampire in confusion. Nobody knew what happened and I smiled. “If you want to back down now, we will grant you your life. You leave the city and never return nor bother any Faded Shadows; we will spare your life. If you choose to stand by Valerie, prepare yourself for death.” I spoke to everyone listening. I knew that the vampires would be using their enhanced hearing to listen to what I was saying. A few vampires immediately walked forwards towards me. Valerie snarled. “Anymore?” I asked. I saw a dozen more vampires file out of the building. “Alright. All of you cowards leave.” They all ran. “Okay Val, can I call you Val?” I smirked. She just let out a low growling sound. “Val that leaves you to what, a bit more than one hundred vamps?” I asked smiling. “We still outnumber you.” She growled. I grinned “You’re right.” Beside me, Troy sat down on the grass, legs crossed. The most people Troy has killed at once were fifteen people. It did weaken him but we needed to show Valerie who she was messing with. Before he did so, I ran to the vampire who was behind Valerie. I took the airbrush and sprayed the vampire with the liquid. He screamed in pain and fell to his knees. I grinned and through the empty airbrush to the ground. I swiftly moved back to my original spot before most people noticed what had happened. We were gloating slightly, but what’s the fun of a battle without a little bit of bragging. So that’s exactly what he did. I nodded to Troy and he closed his eyes with a smile. I saw fifteen vampires stiffen and Valerie noticed as well. She said nothing. All at once, they screamed and dropped onto the ground, dead. “That’s what, one hundred vampires left?” I laughed. She stared at me with fire in her eyes. “Alright, alright, no more fooling around.” I said, giving her a charming smile. I grabbed the nearest vampire and ripped his head off. “Game on.” I said winking. Troy laughed and pulled out his metal axe from behind him. His main weapon of choice was an axe, if he had to use a weapon. I slid one of my katana’s out of its sheath and held it in my hand. Its grip molded perfectly into the shape of my hand form years of practicing with it. I saw two vampires run at me with large combat swords. I inhaled a large breath and swung. The Solidaster dipped metal sliced into the first creature’s stomach. He fell to the ground in pain. The other vampire was confused but continued to run at me. He swung the metal to the side of my skull but I ducked while cutting open a wound in his leg. Sliding the katana back in its sheath, I grabbed one of the stakes from my jacket and rammed it into both of their hearts. Valerie shouted for the rest of her soldiers to enter the battle grounds. At the same time, the rest of the Faded Shadows came into view of the vampires. Valerie stared at the new appearances. She was quick to recover but not quickly enough so she paid for it by receiving a hard punch across her face by a Faded Shadow. I felt somebody kick me from behind me in the back and I fell to the ground cursing at myself for being so reckless. I rolled to the side and just as I did, a sword struck into the grass beside me. Getting up quickly, I faced a young girl with dirty blond hair that was stained with blood. Most people wouldn’t dare hurt her because she looked so innocent and beautiful, but this was war and not all rules are the same here. War is an entirely different world. I jammed my elbow into her face and then swiftly after the hit, I impaled her with the stake in her heart. She fell to the ground. More vampires came at me but it was obvious that we were winning. Somebody swung a large knife at my leg and opened up a large gash. Limping towards the attacker, I rammed my stake through their neck. Pulling it out, I slid it into his chest and aggressively pulled it out as he dropped to the ground. I could feel the wound on my leg starting to heal when I saw a car pull up to the building. Baffled, I saw Jules step out of the car. Moving off to the side of the battle, I took out my phone and texted Becca. –Jules is here. Why? Before I could wait for a response, I heard Troy yelling my name. There were five vampires circling him and they were all lashing out hits. I licked my lips, tasting the thin line of sweat forming on my upper lip. I quickly ran to him and broke the nearest vampire’s neck. I knew it wouldn’t kill him but it’d buy me some time. I glanced around the felid. All of us were in our physical forms, visible to everyone. My mother had said that if we fought in our true forms, not only would they learn that with every movement we made is accompanied by wind but it is also not a fair fight. We wanted to win but we were also honourable fighters. To at least let our opponent see us is the only thing we could do to make it a relatively fair. Even wars had rules, to be honorable warriors; we have to play by the rules. As I fought off two of vampires, Jules fought off the other two. Punching the guy in the jaw, he stumbled backwards as I took a swing and kick at the other vampire. I grabbed the closest vampire to me by the neck and reached through his chest and pulled out his heart. While I did so, the other vampire came at me and aimed a knife to my throat. As I battled him off, I saw a shadow loom over me, but before I could react, I heard a scream. Finishing off the vampire in front of me, I pulled out his heart. I spun around to see Jules lay below my feet and another vampire beside him with a large wooden stick impaled into his chest. His stomach had a large gash and blood was escaping from it at a rapid pace. I heard another loud cry from the distance. Before I could look to see who it was, Valerie shouted. “We surrender!” All movements stopped and the screams and cries came to a halt. As quickly as I could, I ran over to my mother in one second flat. “You surrender?” My mother asked. “Yes, we surrender.” Valerie’s words burned with hatred but my mother took her word for it.  She was a fierce warrior but in the end, she was also a great leader. She would push the limits of her soldiers but was also reasonable. She didn’t risk all the lives of her warriors when she knew that she had no chance of winning the battle. “You vow that you and your followers will not disturb Faded Shadows nor threaten us? Do you promise to never return to Sire City in exchange of yours and the life of your warriors?” My mother asked with a firm voice. “Yes.” Valerie said through gritted teeth. “I would like a blood oath if that is fine with you.” My mother asked and Valerie nodded. A blood oath gives a death reaper the ability to take away your life if you do not do as your oath says. Taking a knife from her pocket, she cut open a wound on herself and let the blood drip onto the already blood stained ground. “I swear on my life to never let myself or any of my followers, return to Sire City. We will not disturb or threaten Faded Shadows.” She said as her wound heeled. Using the same knife, my mother drew blood from her wrist. “In exchange, my followers will not spill anymore blood of your followers.” Her wound then healed. It was settled; the Faded Shadows won this battle. The moment she finished speaking, I rushed back to Jules’s side. I saw that Becca was kneeling beside him. “Becca what the hell, why are you here?” She looked up at me and her face was already tear stained. “Save him Silas.” I looked down at Jules to see a soulless body and blank, glossed over eyes. His wound was still bleeding heavily, and blood was dribbling from his mouth. His entire body was limp and cold. I bent down beside him and looked back to his eyes. His once lively eyes were darkened and lifeless. “It’s too late Bec, I’m sorry.” She cried and let out a loud, screeching scream and crumbled over Jules’s body. I reached my hand over his face and pressed hovered my fingers above his eyes. He was staring at the endless sky, lost in another world. I moved my fingers down his eyelids and his eyes closed.
