I came to conclusion that I would not be able to live without Becca. Though I’ve only known her for awhile, it was obvious she was a person that could almost fully satisfy all my needs. She was beautiful, intelligent, kind and confident. She is one of the most stunning women I have ever met. She was the description of breathtaking. So when I saw her walking towards me at the party, I couldn’t resist myself from kissing her. The kiss we shared wasn’t as slow as our first kiss, but just as amazing; or maybe even better. Her lips had molded onto mine perfectly and our bodies meshed together. Having her in my arms felt as if time itself, had slowed down just for us to be together longer. Each time our lips unlocked for air, I was terrified I wouldn’t be back at her lips but when we touched again I was relieved. When we finally broke apart, I had felt... rejuvenated. Yeah it’s cheesy but true. There is no other word to describe how completely and utterly in love I felt when I was around Becca. I was almost sure that she felt the same. When I looked into her beautiful doe brown eyes, she looked so calm and loving. Her emotion had quickly changed to fear when she saw those around us. I turned my attention off of her for a moment to see what she was so afraid of. I saw that people were looking at us and I noticed a specific pair of eyes on us. Becca had noticed as well. It was Jules. He had shattered beer glasses around him and he looked at Becca and me with terror. The moment I made eye contact with him, I saw complete despair in his eyes. I guessed that he had a thing for Becca. I felt her hand squeeze my hand tightly and I held her hand even more firmly. Registering what happened I understood why he would feel so disordered. I felt Becca tug at my arm and I looked at her. By the looks of her face she wanted to go speak to Jules. Trying hiding the hurt I felt, I gave her a reassuring smile and she walked over to where Jules was standing. He still hadn’t moved from the spot he was standing in from a few moments ago. He barely moved but his expression did start to change from dismay to a more neutral expression. I saw her hold out her hand to Jules and he gave her a long stare. When he gave in to her, he took her hand and carefully stepped over the glass. They started to chat a little and I started to zone into their conversation. Before I had time to zone out, Jules had yelled “Watch your step over here! I’m going to clean it up, just everyone, be careful!” He was even louder than a normal yelling voice because of the music. Almost everyone had heard what he had said, especially me. When his voice suddenly got louder, the noise traveled into my ears and took me by surprise. Since I was listening to what they were talking about and had not prepared for his sudden increase of volume, his yell had made me flinch. I stumbled backwards a bit and my hands immediately shot to my ears; drowning out the sound. Slowly, I recovered from the yelling and removed my hands from my ears. A few people looked at me with curious eyes but probably just thought that I was drunk. Ignoring a few stares, I looked back to where Becca and Jules stood. Except, they weren’t there. Sighing in annoyance that I let them out of my sight, I started to walk to the kitchen, hoping they would be there and on the way, grabbing some more wine. I entered the kitchen and spotted Becca and Jules talking near the fridge, across from the wine pantry and across from me. They were fairly far away so that humans couldn’t hear what they were saying from where I was standing; but luckily, I’m not human. Not bothering to find the glass that I had used before, I grabbed another clean glass and poured myself some more red wine. I let the wine drizzle down my throat and felt it automatically calm me and my senses. I closed my eyes for a moment to savour the flavour and started to pick out Becca and Jules’s conversation. My eyes still closed and sipping my wine, I leaned against the counter and found Becca’s voice. “I never really knew that you felt that way...” I assumed she was talking about his feelings for her. It was an obvious lie. Her voice didn’t waver but I could hear the uncertainty and guilt in her voice. Smirking a little at her lying skills, I continued to listen. “It was stupid for me to think that you liked me.” Jules huffed. I opened my eyes and looked into their direction to find him with his head bowed. “Jules I... You’re my best friend and I don’t want to ruin our friendship, so please just... can you forgive me?” Another lie. Damn that girl lied quite a bit. I made a mental note to always clearly listen to her words to detect any lies. What she said translated into “I’m trying to cover up the fact that I don’t really like you that way so I’m going to pull the friend card on you.” Jules spoke right after my thought “I understand... sort of. Either way, I want you to be happy. If you’re happy as just my friend, I guess I’ll have to live with that.” He had sadness in his words but he’s a nice guy, I’ll give him that. She was nodding but he continued “That Silas guy, I don’t trust him. I understand that you like him but, just like I said to you this morning, you need to be careful around him okay? Just don’t let your guard down Bec. I care for you and even if you don’t care for me the same way, it would kill me to see you hurt by him.” I grunted. Jules had a keen eye for danger... I’ll need to make him change his mind about me. If I can somehow become is friend or at least prove I’m no danger to Becca, maybe he’ll get off my case. Obviously I was dangerous but I would never do anything to hurt Becca. I saw Becca looking at Jules and she said “Okay” He shook his head and said “Promise me.” Damn he really didn’t like me. Sighing in defeat Becca said “I promise.” Jules nodded and they hugged. He went to clean up the mess he made and Becca was still standing there. Before I walked over to her I thought a little on what Jules said. I never even spoken to Jules before, why would he think that I was dangerous? Remembering the argument Becca and I had at the library made me think that she might start to believe Jules. Also given that they’d probably been friends for years and he had gained her trust. I just need to prove that I do love Becca and that I would never do anything to harm Becca. Just the mere thought of her being conflicted with pain brings agony to me. She caught sight of me looking at her and gave a small smile. I smiled back and drank the rest of my wine and put the bottle back to its proper place. As I walked to her, I placed my cup in the sink and ran a hand through my hair. I was thinking of maybe putting a few dark red highlights in my hair but I wasn’t entirely sure yet. “Hey” I said to Becca. “Hey” she replied. Okay, not the warm greeting I was expecting but I won’t blame her. We did only meet a few days ago. I’ll admit that we are moving along with our “relationship” quite quickly but it is all with the agreement of Becca. Before we said anything else, I pulled her into a warm hug and whispered “No matter what, I’ll always be by your side.” I spoke so quietly that I had barely heard myself say it. My words were so quite that they were merely for me to understand, then for her to hear.
