Days had past, weeks even. Slowly, every day, I regained my strength. Basically coming back from the dead, I felt better than I thought. However, I couldn’t help but notice the extra booth of strength gone. Every move I made seemed slightly stiffer and less swift than usual. Becca and my mother had insisted I took a few days off of my busy life to rest. But I didn’t care about rest, I had work to do. Almost regularly, Troy and I would visit and examine the vampire hideout to check for more information. I would always catch him glancing my way, making sure that I wouldn’t randomly faint. His cautious stares made me want to be out and about doing my daily routines even more. The downgrades and struggles were all side notes compared to the paradise I was in. Becca and I were officially together. She was as beautiful as usual but happier. Her life was more content and seeing her happy makes life for me, all the more enjoyable. I had healed her mother and none of the doctors were able to explain how. I had explained to my parents, Troy and Becca what I had done. My parents had been furious but they’d also been relieved that I had survived the transfer. Becca’s parents still don’t know how I healed her mother or what I was. Becca and I had assured them that we would soon explain everything to them; when the time was right. It hadn’t been particularly easy, but with Becca’s permission and a small use of compulsion here and there, we came down to an agreement. Her parents would let the healing incident slide but we’d tell them sooner or later. My mother had been able to burn any results and trace of Becca’s mother’s cancer and any health deficiencies. Not only had I cured her cancer, but all other health issues. With my help of compulsion, all the staff at the hospital and health care had no memory of Becca’s mothers’ health issues. It had been only a couple of days after my awakening; there were school exams to be done. Now, our exams were finished and it was the last week of school. The End of the Year dance was tomorrow, it was Wednesday today. Last night, we had figured out that the vampires were planning on attacking us at dusk, tonight. The vampires were sensitive to sun and if exposed to it for a long period of time, they’d burn so they wanted to attack us during the night. Battling at night also gave Faded Shadows an advantage. We were able to blend into the darkness of the night better than in the shadows of the day. We had called almost all our family members and friends to the city to aid us in the battle. We found out that the vampires pulled together around two hundred warriors to fight against us. There were exactly sixty Faded Shadows in total that we brought into town. My brothers and sisters had joined us, many members of Troy’s family joined the battle and a few close friends and families of ours came to Sire City. Tanner Rd was our battle field. In order to have the upper hand, we needed to strike first. The vampires didn’t know about our true form but found out about everything else. Their knowledge of us had greatened but so has our knowledge of them and their plans. Becca had insisted on coming but I had told her that it wasn’t her battle to fight; which was true. I saw no sense in letting her come along. She wasn’t fully capable of defending herself so she’d be safer in her home. It didn’t matter how much I wanted her to be by my side and support me. The time of my selfishness must end and I made sure that she promised not to come along. Ever since we were sure of our love, Becca and I promised each other that we’d tell one in other everything. No secrets were to be kept. She learned everything about me and Faded Shadows and not just fragments of stories but the entire history that I know. Still, only Becca and her friend Elena knew about Troy, my family and I.
