Rings 17 – Saw how your heart broke
Angelo paced as he waited for Bryony to come out of the bathroom with the results. He was conflicted. He wanted a child but he also didn't. Children changed everything but it also meant new beginnings. It meant that Peter would have a sibling and would not feel too alone. It meant a new start for him and Bryony.
He wanted kids but was he ready?
He didn't know. But come what may, he'd support Bryony. She was, after all, his girlfriend.
And maybe this child would be their new beginning. A chance to start again. Maybe get married. He failed as a husband with Georgina but maybe this time, he'd be better.
He only prayed he could be. He wanted a life with Bryony. She was always there for him. Maybe it was their chance again. They could get married and Peter would have a new family and he'd never be lonely again.
So decided, he waited until she came out and then he'd propose marriage. He loved her. Not like how he loved Cassandra but it was time to move forward. To start anew.
Bryony stepped out of the bathroom and she gave him a sad smile. "I'm sorry."
He rushed to her side and cupped her face, "It's okay. We have time."
Tears fell, she looked into his eyes, "I was confused with how I felt with it but when the test came back negative, I felt hollow." she explained.
He understood. He kissed the top of her head and said, "It's okay, honey." Because it was. They'd get their chance to have a baby. It's not too late for them yet.
But he felt so guilty. Guilty of thinking that way. Georgina wanted more children yet they only had Peter. It was too late for her. How could he even think about having more kids when Georgina was not given a chance? He couldn't. Not really.
But as he laid on bed with Bryony in his arms, his mind kept wandering and imagining a child running and having fun. Images flooded his mind with this child and he wanted it so bad.
And that was when he decided. They needed to get married. If he wanted a child with Bryony, then he wanted it to be done in the right way. The first thing to do was to marry her. He loved her and he knew that she loved him too.
Yes, he was still feeling guilty over Georgina. Because he should have been a better husband to her but he also knew that that was alright. It was okay to feel guilty but it is also okay to move on.
Kaya inangat niya ang ulo ni Bryony at hinalikan muna ito bago siya nagsalita. "Will you marry me?"
Nanlaki ang mga mat ani Bryony at napabangon ito, sandaling umalis sa pagkakayakap kay Angelo, "What?"
"Marry me. I want to have a family with you, Bry."
Nanlilito siyang tinignan ni Bryony, "Is this about the pregnancy scare? Kasi Angelo, it's okay."
Umiling si Angelo, "Bry, I am not asking you to marry me because of that. Oo, may parte na kaya kita inaayang magpakasal ay dahil don. But this morning, it made me realize something."
"What is it?"
"I want children with you. I love you and I want to be a better husband for you." Pag-aamin niya, "I don't know what happened to your marriage but you know what happened to mine. I was a shit husband because I couldn't love George the way she wanted. But now, I love you, Bry. And I know I will be a better husband to you."
