Rings 18 - They loved the same man
The wedding of the year
Bryony's mother was so enthusiastic about the engagement and kept on raving about how it would be the most talked wedding of the year. Sure, when her mother first heard of the engagement, she was against it, after all, if Bryony married Angelo, she would finally lose the title Marchioness of Reading.
And Helena Mendez bought that title and she wasn't just about to let her daughter throw it away. Until then, Bryony's mother had not really accepted the fact that she had divorced the marquess. Helena Mendez was living in denial that one day, Bryony would realize her mistake and come back to London.
Hell would freeze before she'd go back to London. She hated London. Hated how the ton judged her and never welcome her into their fold. She hated how she longed to be included.
It took days for Helena to accept the fact that Bryony was going to marry Angelo and that there was no hope for London. Her mother told her why she accepted it. The Chua controlled the media, the Chua was close friends with the Rodriguez family and in the Philippines, the Rodriguez was a powerful clan. To be included in the circle of that family was a title itself.
And there was a fact that Angelo was rich, he had the Carter's fortune to back him up. And Helena Mendez would rather have Bryony a rich husband rather than none at all.
So she agreed and here they were now. On Angelo's office, talking about the engagement party and the wedding itself. Her mother forced her to go to Angelo's office to talk about the wedding planning.
Angelo hired an event planner and Bryony was actually okay with just agreeing with everything the planner would want. She really did not mind all the details. She just wanted to marry Angelo. She had a beautiful wedding once, the grandest that year so she did not need another one.
But Helena Mendez insisted. So here they were. With the wedding planner and Angelo's little assistant who kept avoiding her gaze. Good. She knew that girl had a crush on Angelo, she could feel it and now she knew that the girl was embarrassed she got caught.
"I don't want an engagement party, mother." Bryony finally said as they continued to plan an engagement party that she didn't want to have. It seemed like a waste of time and energy. Why did people have engagement parties, she didn't know.
Her mother waved her off, "Oh we'll have an engagement party. Everyone does! It is a natural thing to do! I don't want people thinking you're marrying because you got pregnant!"
She saw how the Jennifer's eyes widen. She wanted to laugh, her mother and her dramas. "Mother, it's a modern day now."
Her mother glared at her. "You will have an engagement party."
She also glared at her mother, she really didn't want one. She felt warm hands on her back, soothing, she felt Angelo's hot breath on her ears, "Let her have it, Bry." He whispered.
Her mother squealed in delight, "Oh wonderful." She said, "So the invitations. Who are who going to invite?"
"Whoever you want, mother." If this was for her mother, then her mother could invite anyone she wanted.
"We need to invite the Carmichael's, I do know they'd be in town during that month."
She froze. No she did not want the Carmichael's to be invited. Who would want to invite your fiance's ex to your engagement? Sure, some did do that, to show off. But Bryony did not want to show off, she did not want Cassandra Carmichael to be there in that party.
