Rings 38 – I want to be your man

Angelo stared at Jennifer whose eyes shone with tears as he told her that she was fired. Maybe he shouldn't have started with that but how could he really start the conversation when she really needed to be fired? He didn't know how and he just wanted to have the conversation with her. She thought she was smart with her ways of avoiding him but he knew. He knew what she was doing and that was why he waited for her.

She was avoiding him before but now she didn't have a choice but to face him and that was what he wanted. They needed to talk and she needed to stop running away.

"What did I do? I can do better, Sir!"

He looked over her shoulder, they needed to talk but he didn't want it to be here where everyone could just walk in so he gestured to follow him onto this office. She hesitated before she entered the office, once they were both inside, he closed the door. He made sure earlier that the binds where also down. He really didn't want an audience.

He walked to the center of the room and Jennifer followed. "You should read everything, Jenn."

She shook her head, "No sir, sabihin mo na po bakit. I know nawala ako ng matagal but I was needed in London. It was an emergency."

He knew it was, he heard about it during his call with his friends. Anya was beside herself with worry for the young Isobel and even asked Emma to go to London and check on Isobel. And he understood why she left, why she ran. She was needed and he couldn't fire her because of that. No, the reason was something else.

"Read the rest of the file, Jenn." He instructed.

Jenny wanted to cry, she got fired and Sir Angelo didn't even look remotely sorry that he was firing her! And now, he wanted her to read the file? Why? All she needed to see was the words terminated effective immediately to know that she was fired. So she didn't look down at the folder she was holding and she just stared disapprovingly to Sir Angelo. She was sure she looked intimidating; she wouldn't back down. Not now.

He couldn't fire her!

After a while, she wasn't sure how much time has passed but she knew that she won when Sir Angelo sighed, he stepped closer to her, her heart beat fast as he neared. She held her breath, not knowing what was happening. "Read it." He said as he looked directly into her eyes and she felt his hand trailing on her hand, and then the touch was gone. "Read." He said again.

And maybe, it was because his stares were intoxicating that she just followed him and stared down at the file and she noticed that he had the page turned. So she read and her eyes widened. What? She didn't understand so she raised her head, her eyes full of questions staring back at Sir Angelo. "I don't understand, Sir."

"You've been promoted." He simply said, "You'll be one of the marketing department team leaders effective immediately."

Pero hindi maintindihan ni Jenny. Bakit siya biglang na promote? Anong ibig sabihin nito? "Ho-why?"

He smiled, "Because you deserve it, Jenn. You've proven yourself and I know you can do well."

Hindi niya alam ang mararamdaman niya. Masaya siya na promoted siya pero ibig sabihin nun hindi na siya yung assistant ni Sir Angelo at di na niya makikita ito araw-araw o kaya si Peter dahil ano pa ba ang pwedeng irason niya para mabisita ang bata? Wala na pag di na siya ang assistant ni Sir Angelo. At isa pa, she liked her work. She liked managing the schedule of Sir Angelo, she liked that somehow, she was a boss of her own. Because being the executive assistant of the CEO of the company meant that she was also the highest EA in the company. And she liked that. Pero napaka gandang opportunity din naman ang ma promote.Yun naman ang plano talaga ng siya ay nag simula mag trabaho. Ang ipakita kay Sir Angelo at sa iba na kaya niya rin ma promote at tuloy tuloy ang promotion.
