Rings 27 – You shouldn't hide your eyes
Angelo stared at the letter placed on top of the desk, it was an unopened letter and he bought it here in Turks and Caicos because he was not ready to open it yet.
He remembered the day he received the letter, he was at the cemetery visiting Georgina because when you get left at the altar, you'd go to your dead wife and rant.
He was there drinking from the bottle of a bourbon and Ralphe found him there. How, he didn't know.
"I'm sorry that my cousin caused a scene but I'm not sorry that she ran." Ralphe said to him. He never did like him for Bryony but that was you get when you ruin lives. "You don't deserve her."
Didn't he know that already. She ran after all. He ignored Ralphe and took s swig on the bottle.
Ralphe then placed a bouquet of white tulips on Georgina's grave. "I never met your wife."
"You were in space and we don't really socialize do we? You guys hate my guts."
Ralphe shrugged. "Bry is with Simon."
That little piece of information hurt. It was like a needle was pricking his heart. For the second time again, the woman he loved didn't choose him and instead chose her husband. What was with women and why couldn't they choose him?
"I am really cursed. I loved the wrong women and the woman who loved me died because I couldn't love her." he spoke as he looked Georgie's picture. "She loved me and all she asked of me was my heart and I couldn't give it to her."
"Here." Ralphe handed out an envelope to him. He stared at it for a while. "Bry wanted me to give this to you." but he didn't want to get it and read it. After all, he knew what that letter would say, he was not the choice. Ralphe sighed and placed the letter on the grave, "Read it when you're ready then." he said, then before he walked away, he spoke, "Cass is not your ghost, Angelo. And until you realize that, you'll never find love. Until you properly mourn for her, you'd live a half life."
It was those words that haunted Angelo until now. He couldn't really understand what he meant by it. Cassandra was his ghost. Because of her, he couldn't really move on because he loved her so.
He didn't want to stay in Manila ans he realized that his family would bombard him with questions so he decided that he needed a break from it all. And he flew to Turks and Caicos with Peter for a much needed vacation.
Now, Peter was asleep on the bed and he was here sitting at the chair in front of the desk staring blankly at the letter. He couldn't open it. Not yet. Maybe never.
So stood and walked to the bed. He sat on the edge of the bed and watched his son sleep so soundly. Even when everything in his life was shit, at the end of it all, he had his son and that's all that matters in the end.
After a few minutes of watching Peter sleep, he also laid back and tried to sleep. Tomorrow, he'd show Peter around and maybe they'd go to the beach.
So the next morning, Peter woke up first and he decided to wake Angelo up also. "Daddy, I'm hungry!"
Angelo groaned but still he rose from the bed and looked at his son who he realized have already showered and changed clothes. "You took a shower?"
Peter smiled proudly and nodded. "I woke up early and we need to go!"
He nodded at his son, "Okay. Let me call for breakfast and then I'll take a shower and then we'll go out."
