Rings 49 - Reminded that you loved her first

Jenny was a coward but she wasn't stupid. Or maybe she was? Things flashed through her eyes. Things that didn't make sense but she didn't really care about those things.

When they were back home, she had asked herself why did Angelo knew about the relationship between her sister and Kuya Ian but she didn't care for the answer. Oh my god, she lived in a bubble.

She stepped back from the desk, her eyes still on the frame and her tears falling. All this time, he loved her sister.  All this time, she never knew.

"Jen." he called her. 

She shook her head, the wheels in her mind turning. Everything seemed fake now. Then she raised her head and looked at him with horrified eyes, "She cheated on Kuya James with you."

He closed his fist and his eyes as if doing so would make the answer different.

She was going to puke. God, he had an affair with her sister! No wonder, the treatment of her sister's friends like Kuya Anton and Kuya Ralphe with him were different. And then, the wheels finally stopped turning. She finally knew why she wasn't around during board meetings.

So she decided to leave and as she was just leaving, Angelo held her wrist, "Please let's talk."

She shook his hand off.  "No. Ayokong marinig ano mang explanation mo.  Sapat na yung litrato na nakita ko!"

"It's not, Jen. That's before you."

"Pero hindi mo maitanggal sa tabi mo? Why is it still there locked inside the drawer?" iyak niya, "Bakit ganito? Bakit mo ako pinayagan ibigin ka nang hindi man sinabi sa akin na di naman pala ako?" hindi niya kasi maintindihan. "I don't want to speak with you. Please don't bother me." sabi niya sa binata at agad na lumabas sa opisina nito at nagtungo sa lamesa niya nandun pa din si Chuck pero hindi niya ito pinansin.  Agad niyang kinuha ang kanyang bag at nagmadali sa elevator.

Pagkababa ng parking lot ay sumakay agad siya sa kotse at nag drive na papunta sa mansyon. Hindi parin siya makapaniwala.

Angelo loved her sister. They had an affair. He entered an illicit affair when her sister was married. He broke a marriage.

Alam niyang hindi perpekto ang relasyon ng ate at asawa nito pero ang malaman na totoo ang mga chimis noon na nagloko din ang ate?  At sa lalaking mahal pa niya? Hindi niya ata kaya.

Pagkadating sa mansyon at mabilis siyang nagtungo sa office ni Kuya James hindi na binati ang nagtatakang Bert. Binuksan niya ang pinto at agad na nagsalita, "How could you?" at sinara niya ang pinto. 

Napatigil sa pagbabasa ng dokumento ang kuya at tumingin sa kanya, "You know." tanging sagot lang nito.

"You bought C-Corp."

He nodded, "I did. It was always the plan. They thought it was a merger but I don't do merger." he explained, "I didn't want it anymore so I stopped the talks."

"Then you found out."

"Yes, I found out. So little by little, I bought shares. I am not a good man, Jennifer. I destroy those who try to take what's mine."

And that was how she knew about the affair. Because she knew Kuya James as a ruthless man and when she finally remembered the Carmichael Group document that had made Chuck be weird, it was the only conclusion.

"You were there earlier." she stated, "Every board meeting, you attend it. Why? To boast?"

"Yes. I am a petty man, Jennifer. Ruthless I may be but a petty man I am. I like it when I sit there in front as he presents. I like knowing that I have everything that he wanted."
