Epilogue
Angelo stared at his son who sat in their garden with his iPad on his hands. He was animatedly talking to the person on the screen of his device. Angelo smiled at the scene but he couldn't help but feel envious of his son. His son didn't know how it was painful to be isolated from the woman he loved. His son still enjoyed the company of Jenny. She didn't cut him off just like she did with Angelo.
He was grateful for that. His son loved Jenny but it still hurt. She asked him to move on, to find love again and he wanted that. And he tried.
He tried dating. It just didn't work out. It wasn't in the cards for him. And it was okay. For now, he was happy being with Peter. Just father and son. No woman. But he didn't close the possibility of new love. He wouldn't do what he had been doing all his love.
Closing his heart for new love just because he wanted to save it to the women he loved. Jenny made him realize that and she was right. She couldn't become his ghost. While their relationship was short, those memories were precious and he couldn't regret those. His love wouldn't become toxic just like before. He'd cherish the time spent.
His phone beeped and he glanced at it. It was a message from Bryony. He reached out to her a few months after Jenny left to apologize as well and tell her he forgave her for leaving the way she did. They were now friends. Even her husband is now on speaking terms with him.
He opened the message and he smiled. It was a photo of his goddaughter, Emily. Her face was smashed with her birthday cake. She just turned one and they celebrated it privately. The next photos were Bryony also having cake on her face as she held Emily. Her face looked so happy and he couldn't be more proud for Bryony. She deserved to be happy and she was finally happy.
Another photo was just sent and it was a onesie with a cute words on it, "Best big sister."
He typed his congratulations and he mentioned he'd try to bring Peter to London soon.
Then he looked at his son who was still talking with the woman on the other side of the world. "Peter, it's time to go." He said, he didn't want to end the call but they had a flight to Manila to visit the grandparents.
They moved to Cebu after he resigned as the CEO of C-Corp. Jenny was right, C-Corp was the reminder of his love for Cassandra. James wanted to sell his shares back to Angelo but he refused. No, he wanted to leave C-Corp.
His father threw a fit but he needed to do it. C-Corp was another ghost. He wanted a fresh start. Not really a fresh start but he focused on the printing press instead. It was his and not tied to anyone else. And he liked it in Cebu. It was a fresh start for them.
He watched as Peter said something to his device and ran with the iPad with him. He stopped Peter from running when his son was in front of him.
