Chapter 16 it would be an honor

Grace pov

I am horrible at Spanish . Luckily my best friend Adrian is a fluent speaker in the language. She stayed up practically all of last night to help me study. I have a test today . I prayed last night about doing well on the test . When I got up this morning I prayed again just to be sure . My seat in my Spanish class is right between Adrian and Ricky . Shortly after I came in Adrian Sat in her seat. However Ricky was nowhere to be found . An hour passed and it was obvious that Ricky had no intentions of showing up to class today. I wonder what's going on ? I thought to myself. The lunch bell ring and I met up with Adrian and Jack . "Hey have you guys heard from or seen Ricky recently?"  I asked them. "Come to think of it No I haven't." jack says. "To be honest with you grace I haven't talked to Ricky since we broke up." Adrian told me. "I don't know" I said. "I just have a bad feeling"I said . "I am going to call him and see what's going on" I said.

Ricky pov

I can't believe that today my baby boy is two months old. "Alright little man daddy loves you so much." I told john as I laid him down his crib. After I put john down for his nap I sat back down in the rocking chair.  Just then my cell phone started ringing. I quickly answered it hoping that the sound of the ring tone wouldn't wake up my sleeping son. "Hello ?"I said once I had the phone to my ear. "Hey Ricky its grace." she told me. "Hey grace listen I can't really talk right now." I told her. "I was just wondering why you're not in class today ? Is everything alright with you and John ?"She asked me. "To be honest with you not really grace." I told her . "oh aw what happened ?" She asked me. "Well I went out on a date with this girl Bella that John and I Met at the Park . Before I left to pick her up I dropped John off with my parents."I told her. "About halfway through the date  I told her that I was going to call my mom to check on John." I said. "She told me that John had a very high fever aand that they were going to take him to the emergency room."I told her. "Oh my word Ricky is everything alright? Is John Okay ?" She asked me. "Well grace to tell you the truth I'm not exactly sure." I told her. "Then when my parents left to go home for the night John started fussing a lot."I said.  " I  realized that he needed to be changed so I started to change him . However when I opened up his diaper I saw that he had been bleeding."I told her. "Long story short after a long wait in a waiting room the doctor took a look and then told me that John has an infection in his blood." I told her with tears in my eyes running down my face. "Oh my gosh Ricky I am so sorry to hear about that!" she told me. "Is there anything I can do to help you in any way at all ?" She asked me. " thank you but no thank you grace." I told her . "The offer is appreciated but not necessary."I told her. "would it be alright if Jack and I came to visit you and John in the hospital after school?" She asked me. "Yeah I guess that would be alright."I told her . "I  really appreciate you coming to visit us." I told her. "No problem Ricky we can't wait to see you both." she told me .

Grace pov

After I finished talking to Ricky and hung up the phone I explained what had happened and what was going on with John to Jack . We plan on meeting up at his car after school like we did everyday . Except instead of him driving me home and hanging out at my house for a little bit , afterwards driving home himself . We will go to the hospital and see John and Ricky .

Ricky pov

I'm so glad that grace and Jack I going to be coming to the hospital to visit John and I . This is the perfect opportunity to discuss something extremely important with them. I have been thinking about this for quite a while now I thought to myself . I have recently realized John is missing something in his life. Therefore I have made a decision that will resolve the situation. I am just hoping that Jack and grace will be okay with the decision that I have made. "Hey buddy, auntie grace and uncle Jack are coming to visit you."I told a fussy John as I attempted to soothe him . I wanted to put John down for a nap so is that when grace and Jack came to see him hopefully he wouldn't be fussy . However despite my best efforts it didn't seem like he was going to fall asleep anytime soon .

Grace pov

I Sat in my last class of the day impatiently waiting for the bell to ring . I hope John is alright I think to myself as I stare at my teacher daydreaming while pretending to pay attention in class . After the end of the day I quickly go to my locker to get my stuff and then I meet Jack at his car . We make out passionately for a few minutes and then go to the hospital to see John and Ricky.

Ricky pov

"Shh John its alright little man. Daddy,s here. Daddy,s here." I told him as lifted him up out of his crib.  He continued acting fussy . I quickly realized that John was in need of a diaper change . So I took him to the changing table and quickly got him cleaned up . Just then there was a knock on the door . "Come in." I called from the changing table . It was my mom and dad . They had come to visit John and I after they got off work . "Hey Mom , hey Dad."I said to them if I lifted John up from the changing table and went over to give them a half hug each because I was holding John in one hand . "Hello son." my Mom said. "Hey Ricky how are you holding up ?"My Dad asked . "As well as can be expected I guess." I said . "You look tired."my Mom said. "Do I ? John has had a lot of trouble sleeping through the night." I explained. "Even when he is asleep I can't sleep because I'm worried that something might happen while I'm trying to rest." I said. "Ricky I know that you love and care about John more than anything in the world."my mom said . "But you have to remember to take care of yourself as well."she said. "You have to be the best you can be for him and that means doing what you need to do take care of yourself."she told me. "I know what you mean mom Thanks." I said . "Don't worry I will do my best."I told her. "Alright son I know that it may seem like your father and I are nagging you but I want you do you understand that we are just doing it because we love you." she told me. "To be honest with you guys sometimes it does feel like your nagging me but I also don't know where I would be without your lectures and nagging me." I said with a loving smile . "Don't worry I'm sure you will be doing the same thing to John when he's older." my dad said with a laugh. "Probably" I said . I let my parents take turns holding John . We continued talking with each other for a while . After about half an hour or so there was another knock on the door. "Come in" I said . It was Jack and grace . They came in holding a huge teddy bear each . "Hey guys"I said as I turned around to face them . "Hey Ricky."they both said in unison . "Whoa you guys  didn't have to do this!" I said looking at the gifts they had brought for John . "We know we didn't have to but to be honest we couldn't resist once we saw them in the window of the hospital gift shop." Grace said . "Where can we put them ?" Jack asked . "Over there I guess."I said pointing to aplastic Ben of toys that I had brought for John from home . "Thanks guys I really appreciate it." I told them . "No problem anytime." grace told me . They each had a chance to hold John . He fussed a little bit partly because he didn't know them that well . After a while of socializing for a little bit I decided that now would be a good time to talk to grace and Jack about my decision . "Mom , Dad could you do me a favor and look after John for a while because I need to have a chat with grace and Jack outside." I told them. "No problem sweetie." my Mom said. Both grace and Jack had a confused expression on there faces . Grace quickly handed John to my mom and then followed Jack and I outside of John's hospital room . I closed the door behind me. "Ricky did we do something wrong ? Are you upset with us for something we did while we were babysitting John ?" Grace asked me . "Grace calm down take a deep breath." I told her . "Don't worry guys this has nothing to do with that." I said. "You're not in trouble for anything I promise." I told them. "It's just that it has come to my attention that John is missing something in his life." I told them. "what do you mean?" Jack asked . "Well as you know I'm not the most religious person in the world." I started. "However I would like John to have least have the opportunity to explore faith in the future." I said. "Also I would love to have someone else in his life besides me and his grandparents that can help guide him through life's many challenges."I said. "So I wanted to know you two as my close friends would you like to be John's godparents ?" I asked them . "On my gosh Ricky are you serious ?" Grace asked . "Yes grace I am serious."I told her. Jack and grace both looked at each other for a moment and then said in unison "we would love to !" Thank you so much that means the world to both John and I." I told them.
