Chapter 17 getting back to normal

Ricky pov

Finally everyone left for the night . It was time for me to feed John and put him down to go to sleep . just as I finished feeding john  when there was a knock on the door. Come in I said as I lifted john up out of his crib. John,s doctor walked in and sat down at the small table in the corner of the room. Hello Mr Underwood he said to me. Hello doctor I said still holding my son in my arms.  I felt my hart beat fast as I sat down at the table with john in my lap. What's going on? I asked the doctor. Well I have looked john,s test results and everything seems to be alright he told me. Wow that's great to hear I said looking at john. Yes it is. he said. However there is  one thing. I am going to need him to stat for the rest of the night he told me. How has he been? He asked me. Well he has been fussy because he has been in a lot of pain I told him. That is company normal the doctor said.  Alright I feel a little better knowing that I said.  Did you hear that john? I get to tack you home tomorrow I said looking at my son. Thank you so much doctor I said.  my pleasure the doctor told me as he left the room. John started crying as soon as the doctor left . shsh daddy, s got you I said to him as I moved from the table to the rocking chair . I sat down and gently rocked him back and forth . Once I had gotten him to fall asleep I carefully placed him into his crib . Good night John daddy loves you so much I told him. As soon as he was in his crib he woke up realizing that he was no longer in my arms . I lifted him up out of his crib once again . Little man it's alright daddy's right here I told him as I slowly swayed him side to side . shsh its time to go to sleep I told him as I continued to comfort him . Eventually he fell asleep in my arms . Good night little man daddy loves you so much I told him as I laid him down in his crib. I put a blanket over him and placed the toy that Bella had gotten for him earlier on in the day in his crib beside him. I decided to give my mom and dad a call to let them know the good news .

Margaret pov

I'm glad shaker and I are finally home . I make a quick dinner for the two of us . I can't help but feel 100 percent completely responsible for what happened to John . He was in my care when it happened . He was my responsibility when he got sick . Don't be too hard on yourself Margaret I  hear shaker say immediately snapping me out of my thoughts . I can't help it I said . John was our responsibility when he got sick I said. Ricky interested his safety and well-being with us I said . I know he did but Ricky knows that he would never do anything to endanger John in any way shape or form he said to me. I guess you're right but doesn't make me feel any better about what happened I said sitting down at the table to eat .

Shaker pov

I feel equally guilty for what happened wwhen the Margaret and were babysitting John but we did our bestunder the circumstances . I love my wife but sometimes she can be way too hard on herself . I continued to talk to her about my day at the hospital . Its times like these that I wish I wasn't a doctor . I'm hoping that talking about work will help her to take her mind off of the situation with Ricky and John. So my newest nurse this trilingual . She knows how to speak 3 languages I told her. Her first language is Spanish . Her second language is French . Her third language is English I told her. Wow that's amazing she commented . I wish I knew how to speak 3 languages she said to me with a laugh . Just then my cell phone started ringing . It was Ricky . I quickly answer the phone. Hello Ricky what's going on ? Is everything alright with John ? I asked him . Yes dad everything its fine with John he told me. I'm just calling let you guys know that I will be taking him home tomorrow he told me. That's great news Ricky I said. Yes it is he said. I was wondering if you and mom could come and pick us up iif you don't mind? He asked. Of course whenever you need I told him. Thank you so much . I really appreciate it he told me. No problem son you know that your mom and I are happy to help you whenever you need it I told him. Thanks again I will see you guys tomorrow he said . Alright bye Ricky I said. What is it ? What's going on ? Is everything alright with John ? Market started interrogating me which questions as soon as I hung up the phone . Relax honey everything is fine with John I said. Ricky was actually calling us to tell us that he is going to be taking John home tomorrow I told her. He was just wondering iif we would be able to come and pick them up I said. That's wonderful news Margaret said breaking into tears of happiness. We finished our meal and spent some quality time together before going to bed.
