it was a calm, serene afternoon. it wasn't raining but not too sunny neither. just the perfect weather to have a hearty lunch at a comfy cafe. especially in the neo café, that's located in the middle of the busy city of seoul. everyone in the cafe was having a pretty good time...

...except for jungwoo. he had to be in between of yuta and ten when the two are bickering back and forth like cats and dogs. ironically enough, both of them are more like cats.

yuta's a beta and betas are known for their sassy behavior; while in the other hand, ten's an omega that doesn't act like one. he was just as sassy as yuta was, so the argument was pretty heated up. jungwoo quietly ate his fish and chips as he watched their battle, internally praying for sicheng to come back soon.

their other friend, sicheng, who is another omega, told them he wasn't feeling really well and excused himself to the toilet a couple of minutes ago. in jungwoo's eyes, he was acting a bit weird today but he decided to keep it to himself. in a table not really far from theirs, sat their mates.

there were johnny, yuta's mate; kun, ten's mate; lucas, jungwoo's mate and taeyong, sicheng's mate. all of them are alphas, and ten insisted on sitting separately since he couldn't stand their strong pheromones.

while the alphas are enjoying themselves, eating and chatting peacefully; their mates were literally having a war at the other table. jungwoo slowly sighed as he took a sip of his ginger tea. he wished he had sat with his mate instead. and what's taking sicheng so long?

" why couldn't we just sat together ?" he asked softly, almost inaudible.

" because ten always gets turned on by alphas' scent and probably will drag kun home in two minutes since he couldn't keep it in his pants ." yuta answered without missing a beat, leaning back on his seat.

" hey, don't expose me like that ." the thai pointed his fork to the oldest before stabbing his salad and bringing a cherry tomato to his mouth.

" you can't fight me because it's true ."

" stop arguing ." the youngest said in defeat. " by the way, haven't you noticed that sicheng is... he is acting a bit strange today. or is it just me ?"

yuta stole a sip of ten's latte and nodded. " I noticed too. I thought it was just me, but he looks awfully pale. and he hasn't touched his food ever since we got here ."

" should we ask taeyong ?" ten asked.

" could you? I mean, you'd probably melt into a puddle if you go to their table ." yuta shot without looking up from the mug.

ten's face reddens in slight anger mixed with embarrassment; while jungwoo snorted, trying to contain his laughter. the oldest flashed a smug smile.

" stop attacking me! and stop stealing my latte. drink your own espresso ."

" I can't, it's too bitter !"

" then why did you order it ?"

jungwoo cut them off. " seriously though, is sicheng ill ?"

" if he's sick, taeyong won't let him come today, would he ?"

" I don't know if you guys can smell it or not since you're the same rank... but his pheromones got stronger too. it's so sweet. it's like the smell of warm vanilla ."
