Chapter Fifteen

I sit up and look back seeing Leon stand up, he offers a hand and I take it. I jump up and look around, I squint my eyes and see the ending point. I use my hand and raise it, pointing to the location.

"There. We need to go there." I walk closer to the ledge looking at the spaces between. "Yeah, don't be too afraid to jump." I look up and jump over, seeing Helena follow my lead. 

We fight a few zombie, making it seem peaceful. I slash one and watch it fall off, I put my knife away and turn to check up on them. I wince a bit and look at my broken sleeve, I notice a graze. I trace my fingers along it and remember. I really accepted death, didn't I? My thoughts shift as everything starts rumbling. We all look around confused, seeing our pathways from before breaking and falling down.

"Run!" Leon shouts, we all run and jump platforms. 

Our ears take control hearing every loud thump as it falls behind us, I just focus on jumping. Zombies starts to get in our way, I push them aside and let them fall. All three of us jump at the same time, making us land. We get up and see the whole cave collapsing, we look at each other and continue on. I sprint up but quickly stop as water blurts out of cracks, I back up a bit and start to hear more water. I turn around seeing a whole wave flow through, we all get pushed by the current. 

My head gets hit as it goes faster, I feel like a lost my control. My eyes close and I feel like I'm drifting. My brows furrow as I feel myself falling, what...? I feel a sudden cold around me, my thoughts are clear but I can't seem to wake up. I feel myself pulled up, feeling the air go into my lungs. I gasp for air and wake up, pulling my arm up to a shoulder, grabbing on. My eyes wander and look around. I see the reflection of water, I pull a bit away from the body, seeing Leon stare at me with worry. 

"What? What happened?" My hand goes up to his neck holding on, as I look down at the water. I get a sense of fear while floating, feeling my legs free and open.

"You got knocked out, we're completely underwater." I look at him again even more confused. "Follow me, we'll get out of here." I nod and he goes under first, I follow and he grabs my hand.

As we swim through I notice the bodies we pass. Plants cover corners like it was meant to be there, like all of this place was meant to be underwater. He squeezes my hand, my head turns seeing a large round gate opening. Helena swims up to him and he releases my hand, they crack it open. Leon grabs my hand and quickly swims up to it, we all gasp loudly getting the oxygen we deserved. 

"I think I'm good now." I shyly look at him and he releases my hand from his. I look away and notice Helena looking at us. 

My legs swing, keeping my body balanced. I take a few breathes of air and allow myself to relax, my eyes widen feeling something tug on my foot. Helena and I meet eyes as we're pulled underneath. I hold my breath seeing the fishes bones hooked onto my foot, I pull my body towards my leg and use my hand to hold onto the fish. I take out my blade and stab it, seeing it wiggle. Helena gets herself free, we all then feel air, I yell as I brace for water again.

I swim up and look around seeing a gate, I swim over to it and hold onto the bars. Helena looks down at me, she opens her mouth to say something. We both hear a noise, it was Leon--he popped out of the water getting air. 

"Leon!" He looks over and swims towards me, he grabs onto the bar as well. "That thing is still with you! Helena will be opening this gate soon."
