(22) BEGINING

BEGINING

"Heidi darling, we're here." Mom said but I keep quite. I can see other kids running and playing around through the window of the car.

"Your dad and I will be late at work and so do you."

"Is someone bullying you?" Dad asked.

I just don't wanna go to school. It's so noisy and I hate it when other people talk to me.

"Attend your class and after that, your dad will be here waiting for you. And when you get home I'll be their cooking your favorite ulam."

It's not like I don't wanna study but I just really don't like school.

"Are you saying no to kare-kare?"

I sigh before opening the car door.

"Fine, see you after school. Also, I have my phone to call you when something serious is up so can you please stop sending bodyguards to secretly watch me." I said before leaving and waited for their responds.

"Okay, you are responsible enough."

So we have our agreement. Time to do my part.

As I walk to the corridor, other kids are playing and doing their childish stuff.

Reasons my I hate school. First, I don't want to talk to anyone as much as possible and in school, it's just impossible. "Heidi gusto mo sumali sa laro namin?" One of my classmate asked.

"Hindi" I answered back, I mean why? It's just 8 in the morning and I don't wanna ruin my clean uniform. Also I just never play with them, I never play at all.

Second, teachers are annoying.

"Good morning Heidi, how is your day?" My teacher asked and now I need to answer, and back to the first reason.

"My day is not fine Mrs. Johnson I hope that yours does." I smiled before walking to my chair.

Third reason, some are just stupid to keep on bothering me without even a reason.

"Excuse me Mrs. Johnson, someone wrote on my desk and I don't like it." I raised my hand even though there are no other kids in here.

"You can just erase it and after class the one who wrote that will say sorry, that's the rules right?"

Rules? Fuck 'em.

"So I can vandal on my classmates desk since the punishment is easy, just say sorry to them and not making me the one to erase what I vandal? Also someone writes on my desk everyday but I never heard any sorry even though you always said that who ever did that must say sorry. Since you can't deal with my everyday concern  should I go to the principals office to tell the principal about it? Or tell my parent about this?"

"Heidi ano pang ginagawa mo dito?" Tanong ng isa kong classmate.

"Binubura ang sulat mo mula sa lamesa ko." I stopped and face him. "Why do you even do this?" I added.

"Sorry" sabi niya kaya napangiti ako.

"Bakit ka nga pala laging magisa?" Tanong niya.

"Ayaw kong makipag usap sa iba." Kinuha ko ang gamit ko so that I can go out of the classroom.

"Wala ka lang kasing kaibigan kaya ganyan. Kung gusto mo friends nalang tayo."

"I don't have friend kasi gusto ko and bakit naman kita magiging kaibigan?" I start walking papunta sa gate kung saan naghihintay ang kotse ng sundo ko.

He his Samuel, lagi siyang binu- bully ng ibang students. Minsan naman ay mabait sila sa kaniya because he is smart.

"Because I want you to be my friend. I don't have a real friends so, ikaw nalang."

I sigh. "Okay then, we're friends." I stopped walking and face him.

"Yey! Can we hug now?" He asked so I step back.

"No, ano ka bata?" He's childish.

"Bata naman tayo a, we're only 5 you know. Shake hands then."

We shake hands and he keep on smiling.

"Heidi, tara na." Tawag saakin ng driver ko. They told me that dad will be here but as expected, he's not.

"May sundo ka ba Sam? Ihahatid ka namin if you like." This is the first time that I have friend so I'm trying to be nice.

"Okay, I'll just text dad para hindi na siya pumunta dito."

Sumakay kami sa car and Sam's house is not far from ours. My driver said madadaanan namin from our way home.

"You know what, I am curious about you so I researched. Your family is really rich." He said while we are on the trip.

"Stalker?" I asked and he laugh.

"No. Beside, people know that already. May tanong pala ako, can we be best friends forever?"

I laugh on him, "Can you stop saying those, para kang bakla. Isa pa, we're just friends and we don't even know if forever really exist."

"Bakit ba? Friends tayo for now but soon we will be best friends. We don't need to know if forever exist, we just need to believe."

He smile and I hate it.

"I only believe on lifetime. Also, stop smiling para kang tanga." I couldn't stop myself.

"You are harsh."

"At leats I don't bully you. Why are you letting the other kids to hurt you?" He's smart but he let them bully him.

"Sila lang ang gustong kumausap saakin. But since we're friends now, I won't let them bully me anymore." He smiled again.

"Pero ayaw din kitang kausap." I don't want him to expect that I will talk to him after this.

"Exactly, but you don't have a choice. I'll keep on talking to you hanggang sa kausapin mo ako. Ako lang din naman ang kakausap sayo."

Magsasalita pa sana ako but he stopped me. "Save it, nandito na tayo. Mr. Sa tapat po ng red na gate."

Tumigil ang sasakyan sa malaking bahay.

"Your house is big." I said.

He smiled "Not as big as your house. Anyway goodbye and thank you for the ride!" Bumaba siya ng sasakyan ang wave before entering the gate of their house.

That was the day that we become friends. He was nice and as much as possible I tried my best to be nice. Thanks to him I become more open for other people and I was happy.
