Title: In Between the Lines Chapters Read: 10/30 Score: 10/10
INTRODUCTION: In Between the Lines is truly an undiscovered masterpiece, detailing the experiences of a struggling writer and literary professor-turned-ghost writer for the former. The story touches on important events on the characters' lives, addresses modern societal issues, delineating common struggles relevant to not only the characters, but also to us as well, all while possessing a clumsy, quite comical, way of a somehow poetic and beautiful style of narration. It is not only entertaining and pleasing to read but also teaches us in many aspects.
What I LIKED about this book: The style of prose in this story is truly one of the best and the most unique when it came to everything I have read in Wattpad. The paragraphs are quite wordy and long, complete with way longer chapters, though the narrative still flows smoothly and undisputed. The scenes are detailed with a marvelous balance of metaphors and relevant info, and though the metaphors are complex to understand at some, when the figures of speech finally come to light, it's meaning truly is worth it, often delving deep into the characters' personalities. The prose is written so poetically that it reads like a classic, but the narrator's rather jocose approach at some scenes makes it quite amusing at the same time.
The narrative is absolutely stunning, moving often from character to character with ease and reserved magnificence. Despite moving perspectives rapidly, the narration managed to still flow smoothly, mainly due to carefully-structured paragraphs and perfectly-placed transitions. The passage of perspective definitely was placed in opportunities in contrast to different story's haphazard placements. The way the narrator detailed the characters' perception of their surroundings and emotions were simply astounding, often describing them in one discrete direction, yet it feeling like it's going off in stemming many more, the such resulting in unrestrained character growth. The emotions are uncontestedly authentic too!
The characters are beautifully-crafted too! With most of their struggles resonating with me personally. Their starting personalities all the way to their development throughout the story just made me speechless.
What I DIDN'T LIKE about your book: There's one thing that I appreciate though I fear that some readers might find atrocious.
You've guessed it: ultra-long chapters. Most chapters read an average of 30 mins. For simple readers, this might especially be hard. It's easy to lose yourself in that much length. Given also that your story is also quite complex to read, it might just turn off those who takes English as a second language or those who isn't exactly good at it.
CONCLUSION: Absolutely staying in my library and definitely reading further. Speechless, I don't really know what to say. It's just too perfect to be honest!
