JORDAN'S P.O.V

Awesome! I get to escape dari Bella's family. Wrong timing terjumpa and I'm not yet ready. Not professionally ready. Nurse Emi is just heaven-sent!

"Abuse, Doc." Dia bilang dengan suara yang terkedu. "Child abuse."

Macam pening terus saya rasa. I've faced a lot of abuse cases. It really hurts me especially when it's child abuse. How can a person hurt a child without remorse? Saya dan Nurse Emi berlari ke lift section untuk turun ke tingkat bawah emergency section. A woman is crying loudly at the hall way of the emergency section screaming a name.

"MAYA! MAYA!" Her cries sounds so painful. Perih hati saya.

Apabila saya bergegas masuk ke emergency operation room, Dr. Jack Rao, Ketua Neurosurgeon sudah bersedia menghadapi the surgery in full suit. A brain surgery is going to happen.

"Emi?" Saya memberi signal for my equipments.

And I need a brief on this case. Saya perlu menguatkan hati saya untuk menempuhi this surgery. Saya menatap ke arah jam dinding, 7.10pm. It's going to be a long long night.

"Child's name is Nur Maya Akirah, 2 years 4 months. Child is staying with her mother and the boyfriend. Head injuries, broken ribs, cuts, cigarette ma... mar... marks" Tidak sanggup sudah Nurse Emi brief injuries little Maya.

"It's okay, Emi. It's okay." Saya teruskan tugasan saya.

Dr. Jack with two assistants sudah bersedia to operate the head section.

"Choong, you get on the lower part. I'll be doing neuro. Patient suffers from internal bleeding, the left part of her brain is swelling."

"Aite, doc." Saya balas.

And that was the worst 13 hours of surgery of my life. In the end little Maya lost the battle to live. A little life was just taken away by a monstrous man.

Saya keluar dari the operation theatre. BANG! Saya tendang saja tu pintu. Sakit hati saya tidak dapat save a little girl that was abused by.her mother's boyfriend. Dalam case macam ni siapa yang harus dipersalahkan? The mother? The boyfriend? The boyfriend memang akan mendapat hukuman but the mom should have seen this coming! Her child's cuts and bruised marks aren't new ones, kebanyakkan adalah bekas-bekas lama.

"MAYA! AMPUNKAN MUMMY MAYA! MAYA! JANGAN TINGGALKAN MUMMY!" Little Maya's mother screaming in tears. Dia buka the covers yang menutupi mayat anak dia dan memeluk dan mencium dari muka hingga ke tapak kaki anak dia.

Saya memang emotional when my patient dies. I slumped against the wall and sobbed hard, tangan saya menutupi muka saya. God, she's just a little girl. Dr. Jack joined me dan cuba menenangkan saya. And so we just sat there for more than an hour.

3 hours later. Keadaan dalam department and office saya sangat suram. Saya belum balik lagi, I wanted to get little Maya's medical report ready so the case against her mother's boyfriend cepat kena process.

"Emi, is the medical report ready?" Saya tanya Nurse Emi.

"Yes, doc." Nurse Emi passed me sekeping report yang saya suruh dia taip untuk nampak lebih kemas. Saya meneliti tu report, signed and stamp.

"Doc, go home, get some rest. You look so tired." Nurse Emi bilang.

"Same goes to you." Saya balas.
