Epilogue

Maevis and I have been best friends since we were kids. The way I look at her, I know I wouldn't let anyone else hurt her because she deserves nothing but happiness.

She's the first one to know my secrets. Lahat na yata ng galaw ko dapat alam niya kasi kapag may isang bagay lang siyang 'di nalaman, sigurado 'di na niyan ako kakausapin. Alam naman niyang ayun ang pinaka-ayoko. 'Yong hindi kami nag-uusap o nagpapansinan man lang.

I'm used to treating her like a princess, even though she sees herself as a prince. But honestly, I'm happy with that because I don't struggle to fend off guys who are interested in her. Pila-pila ba naman.

It's funny because everyone sees her as beautiful woman. But every time she hears that, she just pretends to gag. She doesn't believe it. Obviously.

Parati nga niyang sinasabing mas gwapo siya sa'kin, lamang lang daw talaga ako ng pagkalalaki. Napapailing na lang ako nun. Hindi ako pwede kumontra kasi masusuntok ako.

She's a sadist sometimes. But Mae... she's my happy pill. She makes me smile even at the smallest thing she does. Kahit na matigas ang ulo niya. Kahit palagi siyang sumasalungat sa mga bagay na gusto ko... but in the end, if she knew I was just thinking about her sake, she would still follow me.

And say sorry right after even if it came out of her nose.

"Ard..." I heard Muffin say beneath my ears as she enveloped her hand around my neck.

Today is our first anniversary. Katatapos lang namin mag-celebrate kasama ang mga pamilya namin. But Mae wasn't there... she's sick and she probably needs me now.

"Yes, baby?" malambing kong tanong atsaka siya hinarap.

She smiled dearly at me and kissed my lips. I want to push her away but I don't want to hurt her feelings at the same time. Noong ginawa ko 'yon dati, nag-away lang kami. Mahal ko naman siya. Pero bata pa kami masyado para sa gusto niyang mangyari.

This is not the first time I will turn her down when it comes to this. Last mothsary namin, pinlano na niya iyon pero tumanggi rin ako. Not because I don't want to but because I respect her and her parents. They allowed us to sleep in one bed because they trust us, at ayokong baliin 'yon.

Magagalit 'yun kapag nalaman niya. Nangako kasi ako na gagawin ko lang 'tong bagay na 'to sa babaeng pakakasalan ko na.

"Muff... we need to slow down." pigil-hininga kong sabi nang makita kung saan niya nilagay ang mga kamay ko.

"But Muff... we're too young for this," I said weakly, but I can feel myself, I'm about to give up. Sino ba namang hindi?!

Nagising ako sa tawag ni kuya Oxygen, ang panganay na kapatid ni Maevis. Agad kong sinagot iyon nang makita na kanina pa pala niya ako tinatawagan.
