Chapter twenty nine: Hate

MADDIE

"Maxine!" pinupog ko ng halik ang baby ni Kuya Mark at Ate Elena. She is one year old at sobrang cute. Though I changes a lot, pagkadating kay Maxine, bumabalik ako sa dating ako. She is like a fresh air that I am always wanted to breathe in.

"Tss. Baka naman mabura na ang mukha ng pamangkin mo." sita ni Kuya Mayn, pero sa totoo lang gusto niya ng kunin sa akin.

Napailing si Kuya Mark sa amin habang inaalalayan ni Ate Elena papasok ng bahay. I instantly hug Kuya ng makalapit ako sa kanya.

"How was my baby?"

"Kuya. . . Please stop calling me that." saway ko kay Kuya, he's looking at me intently.

"Maddie, it's been two years. Tanggapin na natin ang lahat. Papa will not like seeing you in this state." hinawakan niya ako sa balikat at marahang niyakap. He can't still stand alone without the help of crutches. But I'm thankful that he can now do that.

Kuya had an accident a year ago. Base on the investigation, it shows it is an accident but we know it is not. After I got discharged from the hospital, Kuya Mark and Kuya Mayn did all they can to find out who frame me up.

It was Audrey. She was blinded by her love to D, jealousy and hatred over me. She took it all to me, matapos malaman ang naging relasyon namin ni D.

Pagkabalik ko galing Pinas, wala akong sinabihan ng nangyari sa amin ni D. I don't know how she finds it. Akala ko, she is a friend that I can lean to. Madalas mas inaaway ko pa si Carol for always meddling with my whereabouts. I thought back then that she is the only one who understand me. But I was wrong.

I was so dumb that time. It never crossed my mind that Audrey will do that to me. Pero ganoon ata talaga, love can unleashed the demon inside you. She spike my drinks with drugs and frame me up the reason why I got detained. And experience hell.

Nang makalabas ako sa hospital at napatunayan that I was framed, nag imbestiga pa rin si Kuya Mark sa background ni Audrey. Pati na rin s mga kasabwat niya which is Tristan, na pinsan niya at bahagi ng Undergound. We didn't know how far Kuya Mark discovered something about them. The day of his accident, akala namin mamamatay siya. His car was wrecked, his lower part was severely damaged. I cried a lot when the doctor told us he maybe not able to walk again. But miracles happen.

After a year of continous theraphy, he can able to walk with the help of crutches. We just hope and prayed that someday, he can back to normal.

"I'm okay Kuya."

He sighed, umupo siya at pinaupo ako sa tabi niya. Ate Elena left us so as Kuya Mayn. "Maddie, let's all move on kahit na mahirap. Papa is surely proud of what you achived so do I and Mayn. Don't be too hard on yourself, wala kang kasalanan."

Napaiyak ako sa sinabi ni Kuya Mark, I know I'm still hurt of all the shits that happen to us. Especially to my family na walang ginawa kundi ang alalayan ako. Tapos sa huli, pinahamak ko lang.

"I heard Dianne cameback here." napatingin ako sa kanya, kunot noo at nagtatanong. "Tell me, Maddie, do you love her?" hindi ako makasagot. Matagal na panahon kong hindi sinabi sa kanila ang sa amin ni D. I don't know if I'm just scared or not giving me any chance to tell it to them because of what happen.

"I d-did not."

"But you have relationship with her before? That's why Audrey -- I know it was all in the past. Gusto ko lang marinig ang side mo. It's already two years overdue. Alam mo bang nakalabas si Audrey ng asylum?" nanginig ako sa sinabi ni Kuya. All my fear is starting to climb up. Hinawakan ni Kuya ang kamay ko, "Don't worry, we will not let her come near you lalo pa at nasa wanted list na siya."
