Trembling hands

"Sash?"

Rosa has walked into the bookstore hurriedly as if something is chasing her. Linda doesn't pay her too much attention besides throwing a friendly smile her way- which she returns swiftly.

And after finally knowing the reason for her frantic behavior, my thoughts are way louder than anything around me.

"Sash!"
"Huh?"

Rosa's green eyes bore at mine with nothing but guilt. Actually, I think her eyes have gone wider to match a sad puppy's. Pardon my unnecessary observation- I can't help it.

"I'm so sorry. I panicked, and I should've asked you first but I didn't-"
"It's alright."

I wish I can be as calm as I am with Rosa because my head is officially in chaos by now.

But getting angry at her won't help either, especially when the poor girl said she didn't have much sleep last night because of the matter.

It's been 3 days since Rosa got the gloomy guy's number.

To be honest, none of us expected it would go south this quick especially since they've been talking for 3 days (yes, Rosa isn't the type to wait around for a guy to text her first).

Last night, he suddenly asked her about whether or not she's been at the bookstore, and one question led to the other.

Sure enough, gloomy guy now knows Rosa is my friend. Turns out he actually pays attention to his surroundings because he can describe me well to her.

Out of panic, Rosa admitted about the whole thing, and gloomy guy (weirdly) asked for my number.

I don't know what he'd do with it since I haven't gotten a text from an unknown number, either.

"I should've listened to you. I'm so sorry, Sash. I didn't know he'd catch on!"
"Come on now. We don't know what he'd do about it. Let's just hope he's not offended or anything."
"But you can lose your job!" At this point, she's whispering while stealing glances at Linda.

I sure hope not. I'd be devastated to lose this job.

"Hopefully he won't be offended." I reassure her, but it sounds like I'm trying to reassure myself.

After another series of apologies, and laying out the worst scenarios (followed by another series of apologies), Rosa walks out of the bookstore looking quite defeated after I stubbornly ask her to get some sleep.

I don't know what will happen anyway, and the least I can do is not constantly bother everyone with the worst scenarios.

Time sure flies when you have a lot of thoughts running around your head space.
