A burger as a bribe

I hate a few things.

Two of them are windy days, and also walking alone at night even though the streets aren't completely deserted.

And it's very likely that I'll add Jo Scott to that list soon.

I stuff my hand into the pockets of my jacket, but when I realize one of them must be left out because of holding the book, I can't help but hate that guy a little more.

In my defense, I did say no.

Well, until I didn't get any reply from him for a few minutes, then my mind immediately played the whole worst case scenario that successfully freaked me out. Then I gave in.

"Jo Scott?"

The guy turns around, not even greeting me with a proper hi. "You have the book?"

Geez, dude. You make me feel like I'm selling drugs to you right now.

I hand him the book, while trying very hard not to roll my eyes in annoyance. "Here."

"Thanks." he fishes his pocket, "Here's the money."

"Can I ask you something?"

He eyes me with furrowed brows, "What is it?"

"Do you actually read them? I mean, they're great- of course. It's just not common to find a guy around your age reads this kind of books."

A slight amusement twinkles in his eyes, before it fleets away quicker than when it appears, "So what if I like them? I'm paying for these stuff."

"Uh, yeah. Okay." I nod along, trying to hide the fact that I'm quite weirded out by his whole demeanor. "See ya then."

"Thanks. I'll text you again if I have another order."

"What?"

Hold up, I didn't sign up for this at all. I thought this was just a one time thing?

And with that, I march back to where I previously stand.

Forget going back to the bookstore.

I need to get this straight, otherwise I wouldn't be able to escape this at all.

"Post Books doesn't have a delivery service, in case you're not aware of that." I rise my brow, trying to get rid of a hint of my annoyance.

"Well, I thought you can do me a favor. I need these books, but I can't always go there. I have a tight schedule."

"Look, I've apologized about what happened, but I can't deliver your books anytime you want. That's just not the way around."

Silence is what welcomes me afterwards.

I didn't mean to sound so angry, but can you blame me for getting really pissed about the whole thing?
