The smell of freshly baked cookies hits my nostrils, and somehow I feel a bit happier.
Talk about being food motivated.
Bryan swiftly puts the tray onto the kitchen's island, and just when Lex wants to grab a piece for herself, she gets a slap on her prying hand.
"Ow, what was that for?"
"Don't touch them, yet."
"I'm hungry!"
"So am I! But they need to rest for a bit."
Rosa and I share a look, as Lex scrunches her nose.
"Rest? Cookies need sleep? Are you-"
"No. Rest as in leave them alone, Alexa." Bryan cuts her off, then goes to grab something from the fridge.
Meanwhile, Lex steals a piece for herself.
"I still can't believe I'm selling these." Bryan glances at Lex as she's frantically attempting to cool down her burning tongue thanks to the cookie. Then he grows a smile.
"These are great. Can youreally blame people for wanting them?" Rosa chuckles, and I nod.
"Yeah. You've always been great at baking anyways.""That's why we're all here today. I want to give you guys something to celebrate!"
He seems to realize our confused stares, then he doesn't waste a second longer to add excitedly, "I'm opening an online cookie shop!"
"Really?! Ooh, I've been wanting to order one for myself." Rosa excitedly welcomes the idea, and to be honest, I can't say much.
I haven't tasted his cookies since probably a year ago. Who knows what's changed since then?
But I bet they'll taste even better since he's seemed to learn much further about baking.
The rest of the group decides to sit in front of the TV, and when there are Rosa and Bryan together, we all know that means they'll most likely gossip than watch the movie.
Lex has taken her position so close to the TV as she's picked her favorite movie. Meanwhile, the two gossip buddies resides comfortably on the couch. I sit on the floor near the coffee table, munching on some chips and cookies.
Hangouts have been like this ever since I can remember. And we don't really mind actually.
I deem myself as not much of a talker, and while I'm comfortable around them, sometimes I'd rather hear people's chatters than mine.
My eyes start to ache a bit, and I soon put it down onto the table. Lacking any entertainment, I decide to listen to Rosa and Bryan since Lex's movies aren't really my type.
I've learnt that the hard way after almost pissing myself at the movies after a few jumpscares.
"... Oh, how's that guy?"
"Who?"
"The McDonald's guy."
The two of them involuntarily look at me, and I have to carefully choose how I'll react.
I thought Bryan's house was a no Jo Scott zone.
