Early Saturday morning Rachel and I walked tiredly to cheer practice. Five am practice should not be a thing, ever. As we passed the football guys locker room we could hear them speaking.
"Bro, have you seen her body, she's fine a.f and now she'll be wearing that tight cheer uniform. It's going to get a bit tough focusing on the game, if you know what I'm saying. Also, I heard that she's also part of 4 2 crew now. Damn, do you know what I would do to have a girl like that, even for one night." Some guy said.
"Well, not that you would ever know." Said by a guy that could be Mason. Not completely sure.
Rachel grabbed my arm and we stopped walking "They're talking about you. Kelly, they are talking about you." Rachel whispered.
"Oh and you do?" The first guy replied.
"Bro, have you met me?" The second guy said confidently. Yep, that's definitely Mason.
"So you're going after Kelly knowing that you'll be going up against Mason. Bro, are you seriously going head to head with Mason for a girl?" I think Dylan said.
"What, I can take Mason on a one v one." The guy said confidently.
"Oi! You sure about that, Mate?" I heard Mason ask.
"I guess we'll see then, but just to let you know Mason will do anything to get her and I mean anything. Anything to keep his precious car." Dylan said and Rachel and I just looked at each other.
"Car?" I whispered but then it clicked.
What? Excuse me, no. This is not happening. Nope, I refuse to believe that I just heard that.
"You guys make a bet or something?"
Yep!
"Yeah, A bet. If Mason can get Kelly to date him then he gets my apartment but if she rejects him I get his car, I get the Lambo."
"Shit, you bet the Lambo." A different guy said.
"But I'm going to win. She already knows she wants me... you know it's not that hard to see. Last night she couldn't keep her hands off me, it's just a matter of time before I get that apartment." Mason said.
And there it was; The F boy statement of the year, the final cliffhanger before the end of the season, the plot twist that ruins everything, the friend dropping spoilers to the ending of a new movie, the 'based on a true movie' at the end of a horror movie and most importantly the death of the old Mason.
Rachel and I just looked at each other before we started walking towards the field again.
Rachel opened her mouth to speak but quickly closed it again, shifting awkwardly. We walked in complete silence for what felt like forever but realistically, only about ten seconds.
The silence was finally broken when Rachel spoke.
"You know I hate him." Rachel said, trying to comfort me.
"He's like those candies where it has the same color but one is the nice flavour and the other is horrible. Mason looks and pretends to be that nice flavour but actually he's the horrible one. I vote he's the vomit flavoured one." She continued but I remained silent.
Rachel face screamed pass Mason memories as she tried to keep herself composed. By tried, I mean failing at it.
"The nerve on that guy." She said, in overextended hand movement "The nerve. How dare he treat me like crap? Like I did not even exist. I gave him everything. Everything! And guess what I got." She looked expecting an answer.
Are we still talking about me? Before I could answer her question, Rachel burst out laughing, walking laps in the narrow passage.
"I got heart break. Can you believe that? He got everything and I got a break up text. A text! Not even man enough to do it in person. The nerve."
