After a disappointing night of being eliminated in the semi finals and feeling like we got robbed, which ending up in a massive fight between the crews. I just wanted a quiet morning but me being me, that is not possible.
"Hey, Kelly. Can we speak?" Justin said, stopping in from of me as I walked to Dunkin Donuts that was on campus.
"I'm on way to Dunkin but you can walk with me." I said and continued walking, with him walking next to me in silence. "You wanted to talk to me?"
"Yeah... Uhm... I-I'm" Justin Stuttered nervously.
"Justin, just say it."
"I like you... a lot and Mason found out by overhearing a conversation I had with Mia, before practice. I asked her to be my girlfriend before Rachel called me and I left her for you before she could answer and then I stayed the night in your room and she just happened to have found out."
This was all my fault.
" She stopped me before practice and told me that she's not going to date me when I like you and with Mason being the drama queen that he is and me being mad at him, we just blew it out of proportion. Kelly, what he said wasn't true, I never did that but me touching you that morning, just made it worse. I'm sorry."
"Justin, it's fine. I'm not mad at you or anything but I don't feel that way about you. I like you-"
"but as a friend." He finished.
"I'm sorry, Justin."
"It's fine, I never expected you to and that's why I never told you. You date guys like Mason, so why would you lower your standards for me?" He said before walking away.
"It's not like that. You'll be the one lowering your standards." I said but he was too far away to hear.
I just hurt my best friend. I'm the worst person alive. How bad is my life going to get until it gets better?
I closed my eyes and internally rolled it when my phone rang. I answered it without looking at the caller ID, while walking into Dunkin.
"Hey Rosen." I smiled when I heard his voice.
"Hi McConner."
"How you doing?"
I got to the front of the line and had to order "Hi, a large caramel latte with whipped cream please."
"And ten chocolate munchkins." Mason said and I laughed.
"And ten chocolate munchkins, please."
I paid and while I waited for my iced coffee, Mason walked in.
He walked straight to the munchkins that were in a box in my hand "You're amazing." He said kissing my cheek because eating.
I got my iced coffee and we sat down outside at a table.
"I need to ask you something." I asked nervously.
"Okay." Mason said.
"My question is kind of deep but okay. If you had to get someone pregnant now, would you stick around or leave?" I finished speaking while he was mid-bite and he just stopped, looking at me weirdly.
"Why is that your question?" He asked defensively.
"I might have heard something."
He let out a small chuckle and finished his munchkin "Brandon told you what happened with Missy. I knew he would do that, he would do anything to get you on his side."
"So it's true?"
"Ya, but she wasn't pregnant, I used a condom and it didn't break or tear or anything, she was fine."
"She was scared and alone and you weren't there for her."
"I'd never do that to you."
"Actions speaks louder than words and your words can't heal the wounds your actions caused."
He started shifting and correcting his clothes, seeming uncomfortable before looking up at me.
"I know but my words also hold value and I should have never made you choose between Brandon and I and I'm sorry for the way that I acted. I should have spoken or asked you about it, instead of accusing you."
He continued shifting and scraping the back of his neck, becoming more anxious during my silence "I-..." He broke the silence before taking a deep breathe.
"I can't change what I did but I can try to make it up to you and I promise if you give one chance, just one, I'll never leave you. I'm broken but I'm the same guy that I was ten years ago and ten years from now I'll still be that same guy. Rosen, just one chance?"
"Mason, we weren't actually dating but it felt like we were. I don't care that you hurt me, I've been hurt before and I can deal with it but you broke my trust and I can't just move past that. I want to be okay with you. I want to be with you but I don't trust you."
A wave of emotion passed over me. My eyes glosses up and my chest felt heavy.
"I don't trust your intentions, I don't trust you with my heart and I don't think I could ever trust you being out."
I took a deep breath before speaking again.
"I feel like I constantly have to watch over you to see if you'll betray me and I don't want to be with a guy like that. Mason, I'm so scared that we are going to have the slightest argument and you're going to leave and end up in bed with the first girl that will allow you. If I'm dating a guy I would want him to go out and have fun and trust that he won't cheat on me but I don't trust you." My voice broke and could not hold back tears anymore.
He walked over, crouching in front of me with my hands in his.
"Just tell me what I have to do and I'll do it. Just give me a chance and I'll prove to you that I can be that faithful guy."
Emotion filled his face as he hung his head trying to hide it. We stayed silence for a few minutes before he restored eye contact. He had tears in his eyes and looked completely vulnerable. I felt like if I had to push him over, he'd break. He was as fragile as Fine China and as translucent as glass. I had to believe, nothing about him said that he was lying.
"I'm sorry, Kelly."
I placed my hand under his chin, lifting it up so that he faced me.
"One chance." I said holding up one finger and he smiled "but we're starting over. We're not dating, no games, no bets. You're going to have to work for this one."
"You're saying I didn't work the last time? After our first date you wanted to date me." He said with all his confidence and arrogance back.
"Then you better hope that you can plan a date better than me."
"Yes, Ma'am." He said leaning closer to me but I placed a hand on his chest, slightly pushing me away and he let out a slight chuckle.
"Okay."
