MONSTERS

"How many times do I have to tell you to leave your friends! Stop joining losers!"

I formed a fist as mama spit those words in front of me. Losers. I think it wouldn't fit on them.

"This Card! This Certificate! Is nothing but a trash!" She cried and raised her hand holding those things she mentioned.

She looked at me for a minute and shifted her looks below me. Angrily looking at my fist.

"What's with your hand? Stop that shit or I will kill your friends!"

Scared of everything, I obey her.

"Joining a bunch of losers means you're one of them! And those stupids took advantage of you! Can't you see?! Kinaibigan ka lang para makuha ang trono mo!" She pointed her index finger on me.

"I vomited after receiving your awards and I'm fucking pissed when I saw you smiling with those stupid friends of yours! They overlapped you! From first down to sixth?! Are you insane!"

Hindi ko na mapigilan ang nagbabadya kong mga luha. They're shreading too hard that I almost lost my breath.

"M-ma.. They're smart..too" from all the words she threw, I only replied short for I respect her.

She cried, finally ripped my card and certificate.

She went near me and she did the thing I expected. The sound of the hard slap from my face roamed the room.

It hurts. Physically and emotionally.

"Starting tomorrow, you will stop going out with those stupids. Okay?" She acted calm and I know what it means.

So I nodded my head for a response and she left my room.

Mama thought I would change, but I didn't.

Nagpatuloy pa rin akong makisama sa mga kaibigan ko. They always makes me happy, bakit ko naman sila iiwan? No one made me happy before, and then they came.

At first, I doubt them. My brain was poisoned by my mom's words.

Some says I'm a loner. I'm a study monster. That I always top the class because of it. I don't have friends because mama told me to not have it.

When I'm broke, no one comforts me, no one can lend their shoulders on me. There's no one I can lean on.

That's why I'm glad when they reached me first and that time, I broke my mama's rules.

"Kailan ka ba titino ha?!" Mama cried  the next day after she caught me hanging out with my friends.

I can't keep this anymore. I badly want to talk back on her.

"I told you-"

"You told me to stop hanging out with them, but what can you do if I won't obey you!? Huh!?What can you do mama!" I cried.

"You're talking back! I can't believe!"

"This woudn't be happening if you set me free! If you let me go with my friends!" I bursted out.

Umiiling iling si mama habang lumalapit sa akin.

I step backward just to get away from her.

"Sinabi ko na 'to sayo noon diba? Para titino ka anak" this is the first time I heard her speaking too calm after having friends.

"Hindi pa ba ako matino mama?" I asked.

Her jaw clenched, her eyes got bigger and her face got redder.
