AFTERLIFE

“How's your day?” I asked Cameal.

“It was great... but, it will be more greater if we're together,” she responded plaintively.

“Cameal, just pray okay? I know it will take some time, but just pray for my recovery.”

She sighed, “As you command.” I smiled and give her a flying kiss.

“I love you.”

“I love you too,” she smiled and hang off the video call.

I'm Francis and I am positive in Corona virus. It's been 5 months since I'm here at the hospital. All I could do was sleep, eat, read books, and call my wife– not literally a wife, but I used to call her like that.

I place my phone on the table beside mine. I sighed as the doctor came in. And she's here again, the flirty doctor.

“How are you feeling?” She asked in a flirty way.

“I'm fine. Not until you came.”

“What's wrong with me? Am I not that pretty?”

I sat down on my bed and glance at her with a serious face. “Look, you know I have a girlfriend– no I have a wife, soon to be wife. So, stop flirting with me, okay? You're pretty and I won't deny it. I know you like me, but know your limits when you already know that the guy you like already owning by somebody else. Understand?”

She looked down due to embarrassment. “I'm sorry,” she shyly said.

“It's okay. Now do your job as a doctor,” I said and she nodded.

Today will be my 6th month here. I'm still fighting and having hope that I'm going to survive this unseen killer. I'm eating my meal today. I heard my phone rang, a smile curved on my lips as I read her name.

I answered it and an excited voice was the first thing I heard. “Good morning, my bubbly-cute-baby!”

“Good morning, my wife, you look hyperactive today huh?”

“Baby, what's the date today?”

“Um... wait I'll check it,” I said and look at the calendar. I was shock when I forgot that tomorrow will be our anniversary. “Um... June 3, my wife.”

“And tomorrow?”

“Will be our second anniversary as a couple,” I answered with a smile.

I heard her giggled.

“Are your face is now a tomato, my wife?” i teased.

“Hush! Shut up!”

“Mmm... I guess it is.”

“I-It's not!”

“Are you sure? Why does your voice looks...”

“Aish!” She said with a voice of being annoyed. “Fine. I-I am.”

I burst of laughter. I heard her hissed.

“What's funny?” She asked in sarcastic way.

“Nothing, I just laugh what's wrong with it?”

“Tss. You're annoying.”

“And you're pissed.”

“Shut up!” I laughed.

“I'll hang up.”

“Wait–” She cut me off by hanging the call.

I shake my head as I dialed her number, but she turns off her phone. I sighed. I'm expecting a fight later night before I sleep. Well, that's our routine, before I sleep, we do video calls. There are times that we fight, but since I always put my pride on the lower level, our fight always ends up with I love you.
