_______

IT HAD BEEN A LONG COUPLE OF DAYS FOR MAY, just hours ago she arrived to tonDC with kane and abby, as the commander wanted her there to help treat some injured villagers. lexa trusted may, as she knew how she didn't hesitate to leap into action to help save one of the wounded caused by finn.

so that's what she was doing now, helping an injured villager inside a tent. the grounder was laying on a cot, his shirt pulled up so may was able to inspect his stomach wound. it was a large gash that started at his belly button and ended at his side, but at least it wasn't deep, and no stitches were needed.

the only thing that seemed to take over her mind the past few days were john murphy, the morning after they hooked up he was nowhere to be seen since then. and that hurt her feelings a bit, but she tried to not let it get to her, as she had other things to worry about. bellamy as a spy in mount weather, her friends stuck in there too.

when may finished the last of the bandages, she sent the grounder a caring smile before gently tugging his shirt back down. she didn't say anything to him, as she knew the villagers couldn't speak english. the grounders sent her a nod in thanks, and that was may's que to up and exit the tent.

various villagers of tondc were passing may as she exited the tent, some of them sending her unnecessary looks that she ignored. with her satchel strapped across her body, she made her way to kane, abby, and the commander, who were standing to the side, not seeming to be speaking to each other.

at the sounds of her footsteps approaching them, lexa looked to the side, but turned her body fully when she saw it was may. the ombré haired girl sent the commander a kind smile as she stopped in her tracks, "ruk will be fine in a couple days, he's the last person to look after. unless there's anyone else who needs my help?"

the commander shook her head, her hand relaxing on the handle of her sheathed sword, "no, i believe you and abby have taken care of all the major injuries. our healers can handle the rest. thank you, mei kom skaikru. lending your kindness to the people who need it will never be forgotten on my part."

may nodded at lexa's appreciation, "it's no problem. it's my duty to help people who need it. no matter who they are."

lexa nodded, growing curious about may almost immediately, "why did you choose to help one of the wounded at the camp that was massacred?"

the commander asking her that curious question brought her back to when murphy had asked her the same thing in the cave, she knew exactly was she was gonna say, "caring about others, running so many risks to save them, and leaving an impact on them. it brings you a joy you never knew you could ever feel."

lexa nodded at may's words, being the commander she's met many people, but has never met someone like may before, so kind, and so generous about others. she envied her, and respected her.

a pair of rushing footsteps grabbed both of the girls' attention away from each other, and when they turned in the direction, clarke and octavia were rushing to them side by side. "clarke of the sky people has honored us with her presence." lexa spoke, her tone firm at the blonde's late arrival.

"i'm sorry i'm late, commander." clarke responded with a apologetic tone, but the worried facial expression on her face made may's eyebrows furrow in concern.

"you made good time." kane told the blonde as he took a step forwards, making his presence clear, "i assume the kids at mount weather are okay."

clarke nodded, her expression told that she had something else to say, but her words made it clear she decided not to, "for now." she averted her gaze from kane to lexa, who stood right in front of her, "can we talk in private?"

lexa simply nodded, her eyes showing concern as to what clarke wanted to speak about, "yes. this way."

without another word, clarke and lexa walked away towards a building, which may guessed was a planning room. when octavia joined may's side, the ombré haired girl sent her a questionable look to show her confusion, only the brunette just shrugged, just as clueless as her.

may decided to not think about it, and just stayed with kane and abby shortly after octavia walked away, as they were the only two people she knew that were currently in the village, and was unaware of how the other villagers felt about her.
