Camila's POV
"Shawn, Shawn! Would you look at this! Wow...it's so beautiful." I awed at the view from my window seat on the plane as I shook Shawn awake to look at the view - snapping a picture, of course.
The plane ride was awfully long. It was a direct flight, nine hours to be exact and my body was sore. I had much trouble sleeping, considering I couldn't get Shawn's words out of my head from our dinner date that was exactly two weeks ago.
"I have many things planned for you there, love."
He leaned over my aching body, taking in the view that we were passing over. "Wow...it is gorgeous. Although...I have a way better view sitting next to me." He peered up at me, puckering his lips for a kiss.
Happily, I met my lips with his. "That was cheesy." I scrunched up my nose, lost in a train of thought. "Yes...but you liked it, you know you did." He winked, propping himself back up to his seat. I shook my head, violently.
"Nope...not one bit." I held back a laugh. "Okay...whatever." He rolled his eyes, planting a wet kiss to my cheek before leaning his head on my shoulder - falling back asleep.
"Holy shit! It's even nicer in person." I happily screamed, running towards the streets - taking it all in. "Steady there, baby." He laughed, gripping my waist, helping me keep my balance from falling into the street.
We'd just napped for hours and finished fixing ourselves and getting settled and already, we wanted to explore.
La Boca was not too far from us and already, we were in love with the street artists. They were all so talented and it truly brought out the little kid in me.
There was a point in my life where art was everything to me. I told stories through my art and my teachers and family were in love with them. But, I slowly lost the passion for drawing and painting around the time my sister died, mainly because there was no motivation. It was dead. But it was slowly being rekindled and that was because of Shawn.
"You okay?" He rubbed my hand with his thumb, bringing me back down to earth. I nodded my head, smiling. "I used to love art...but I lost the passion for it." I sighed.
His face lit up and to say I was confused is an understatement.
"Let's paint then." He smirked. It took awhile but soon we made it to the destination that wasn't to be named because I had no clue in the world of where we were. "This is...Salado River!" He outstretched his arms towards the view. There was already a set up of two canvases on easels with a variety of the most beautiful paints.
"What...how'd you know?" I turned back to him, hugging him. Clearly, in awe of him.
"When your mom and I were packing up your things to bring to my house...I found some paintings." He shrugged, brushing off the conversation and dragging me to the art sets.
It was beautiful and it truthfully was the sweetest thing. He continued to top himself and I could barely keep up. I was so utterly in love with this man.
The way we faced the river and was able to capture every single detail from where we were sitting was incredible. Often, we would share a few glances and start giggling for no reason whatsoever.
Flashback
Shawn's POV
"What is this?" I asked, holding up the beautiful painting in front of me. It was hidden in Camila's closet that I had offered to pack up for her whilst she ran some errands.
It was the most indescribably, beautiful painting that there ever was. It was of a girl. Short with curly hair and a dress that flowed over her knees, running in a field with the sun setting just beautifully.
"Ahh...that." Sinu walked towards me, grabbing the painting from me to get a better look at it. "This...my beautiful boy...is your beloved girlfriend's gift."
Art. I never knew that but I didn't think too much of it. She was extremely talented and it was clear that she had a love for the art considering the amount of paintings that sat neatly on the ground of her closet.
"This is Sofia...her sister." I saw the love in Sinu's eyes as she admired the painting and I too was impressed with the work that Camila had formed with just her hands, paints, and a few paintbrushes.
"She actually...lost the passion for it but..." she didn't continue to speak. Instead, she got on her knees, rummaging through the canvases that rested neatly on top of one another.
"She actually started doing it again...and I think this one is for you." Sinu smiled, handing over the painting but not before admiring it, herself.
I was honoured to be the rise of Camila's passion that was slowly growing again. The painting left me speechless and in uttered wonderment. I recognized the photo she referenced even just looking at the painting.
It was from Milan, it being the wallpaper of her phone. We were in front of Parco Sempione, holding each other, tightly with the widest smiles on our faces. It was one of my favourite memories of us, though there were many.
As much as I wanted to keep this painting and hang it up, it wasn't for me to touch or to keep. I wanted to wait, wait until she was the one to approach me with the knowledge of her talent. Although, I now knew about it. Camila still had every right to keep it to herself until she was ready to share that piece of information with me.
Until then, we hid back the canvases, as if they've been left untouched and continued on with our packing.
Her creativity took courage and so did preparing herself to open up that chapter of her life to me.
