“We'll be fine and besides, Teddy's coming over to help today, remember? Now go or you'll be late.” I tell him, and, with a light chuckle, gives me and Lilly another kiss, and heads out the door. As he's going out, Teddy comes in and gives me and Lilly a hug.
“Hey.” she says with a smile, sitting across from us.
“Hi. Just let me finish feeding Lilly here and then I'll put her down for a nap and then we can do whatever.” I tell her as Lilly finishes her bottle and I put her over my shoulder to burp her.
“Ok. That's fine.” She says as Lilly lets out a burp and we go to the living room so I can rock her. As we begin rocking, I start singing her lullaby, Never Grow Up (by Taylor Swift) that I wrote for her. Once I finish singing, she is fast asleep, so I take her up to her room, turn the baby monitor on, and head back downstairs to Teddy.
“So, she's asleep for now. What do you want to do?” I ask her, sitting down beside her and putting my head on her shoulder.
“We could watch a movie, talk, or anything else. It doesn't matter to me.” Teddy tells me and she strokes my hair.
“Let's watch a movie.” I say, looking at her and smiling.
“What movie?” She asks me.
“Hmmmmm. What about Soul Surfer?” I ask, knowing she loves that movie. She smiles at me and nods her head. So, I get up and put the movie in, and halfway through the movie, we hear a choking sound coming through the baby monitor. We look at each other and jump up and literally run to Lilly's room. As soon as I get in there, I see she's coughing up blood, and I freeze. Teddy looks at me and picks Lilly up and tells me to go start the car while she carries her outside. Instead of putting her in the car seat, Teddy hands her to me while she drives and I just hold her on the way to the hospital and cry, terrified that something is wrong with her. As soon as the car stops, I run inside with Lilly still in my arms and run to the ER to find Arizona. But, on the way, I see Mark and I run up to him and tell him what happened and he runs off to find Arizona for me. When he comes back, she's following behind him and as soon as she sees me and Lilly, she pages Addy as well. She takes us to a room and I ask Mark to hold Lilly while I go for a walk and try to find mom and dad. When I was walking, I wasn't looking and ran into them. They looked at me and immediately asked what was wrong and where Lilly was. So, I told them and they followed me to the room where she was at. As soon as mom saw her, she put her head in dads chest and started crying as he held her. Then, Arizona and Addy walked in and Addison took Lilly from Mark and checked her over. She ordered us all out of the room. At first, Mark and I refused, but then we realized that she was in good hands, so we finally agreed. When we got outside, I slid my back down the wall and sat down and just cried. Mark sat beside me and held me as I sobbed.
“I don't know what happened. Teddy and I put her in her bed because she was asleep and we went downstairs and began watching a movie. Then, we started hearing choking noises coming from the baby monitor. We went upstairs and we saw her coughing up blood.” I told everyone. While explaining what happened, Meredith, Archer, Charlotte, Derek, and Henry walked up. As soon as Henry saw Teddy, he ran to her and started comforting her. Their faces turned into shock as I told them what happened. After a few minutes, Arizona and Addison came out with Addison holding Lilly. As soon as I saw them come out, I stood back up and took Lilly in my arms and held her close to my chest as I waited for them to explain what was wrong with her. When I finally look at them, I realize they have a pained expression on their faces.
“She has Bronchiectasis.” Addison says. Hearing this, I start crying again and look down at Lilly.
“How can it be treated?” I ask, unsure of what to do right now.
“It can be treated with rest, drug treatment, and postural damage. We can also non-surgically inject her system with drugs to help it go away.” Arizona says, as her and Addison come up to me and each placing a hand on my shoulders. Addison reaches for Lilly again to take her to a room with a crib, but I protest.
“Bella, she needs to be treated, let Addison take her.” Mark tells me, putting an arm around my waist. Reluctantly, I hand her over to Addison and Mark pulls me into a hug. Addison looks at us and I give her a hug and I also give Lilly another kiss and Addison turns and leaves to take Lilly to the room she will be staying in. As soon as they are out of sight, I burst into tears again and Mark hugs me to him again.
“She's going to be alright sweetie.” Mom says, coming up to me and rubbing soothing circles on my back. I turn towards her and Dad as they envelop me in a hug. Then, everyone joins in and we are all standing in the hall in a big group hug.
