Chapter 4

(Edward's POV)

I woke up to a firm grip picking me up by the back of my shirt and throwing me in a bathtub of freezing water.

"WAAAAAAAH" I yelled, my eyes wide awake.

I looked up and saw Levi looming over me, his arms crossed across his chest. He had his menacing look in his eyes as he looked down on me in the tub.

"What was that for?!" I shouted.

"It's 8 o'clock, I sent the other Cadets to the training grounds so that I can give you a tour of the base without interruptions. I spent the morning checking on Ms Rockbell and cleaning that room. And you're going to go clean yourself and change into this uniform while I clean my office." he said, the same flat expression on his face as he handed me a stack on clothes.

"You take cleaning seriously huh?" I said taking the clothes with my wet gloves.

"Tch" then he left the bathroom.

I just shrugged and washed the filth out of my hair, then took off my old clothes and threw them in the trash, they were wrecked anyway. I washed the dirt off my body then stepped out of the tub. I put on the white trousers, the black shirt Levi gave me, the brown cropped jacket with the Scout regiment symbol on the back and pocket, I put on the strange brown leather skirt followed by the numerous brown belts that went around my waist, sides, chest and thighs to my feet. Then I slipped my feet in the brown knee high boots. I put the white glove to hide my metal hand then I braided my hair quickly with the rubber band that I found in one of the cabinets. I looked at myself in the mirror, when I was satisfied, I walked to the office room.

There I saw Levi mopping the floor. He had taken off his jacket and was in his grey shirt with a bandana holding back his hair and covering his mouth. He had almost completely cleaned the room and I saw him run across the floors at least 6 times.

Clean freak...

"Hey brat! Are you going to help or are you just going to stand there?" he said looking at me.

He threw a rag at me and indicated the furniture.

"Don't forget to dust the top of the bookshelf."

I looked up at the shelves and wondered how the hell could I reach that. I looked at Levi and realized that  he was also pretty short by normal standards but he was still about 5 inches taller than me.

I smirked, clapped my hands and used alchemy to shoot the stone floor up 2 feet. Then I casually cleaned the top of the furniture. When I was done I shot a glance at Levi who was still furiously cleaning the ground.

He definitely saw that! I laughed inside.

When we were finally done, I went to check on Winry. She was still sleeping quietly. I sat on the bed next to her and brushed the hair from her face.

Wake up soon okay?

I realized how cute she looked when she was sleeping. I couldn't help myself, I gently kissed her on her forehead then took her military uniform from the closet and put instructions on how to put it on. Then I left the room, closing the door quietly behind me. There I saw Levi his arms crossed once again, he had put his jacket back on and removed his cloth showing me a darkened expression.

"Not my girlfriend my ass..." he muttered.

I blushed crimson red.

"Shut up!"

"Tch. Let's just go brat."

"Can you stop calling me brat?"

"Don't take it personally brat. I call everybody names. Don't expect much kindness from me if you're going to be on my squad. Now come on, we only have a few hours before the other Cadets go to lunch."

"What's going to happen at lunch?"

"I'm going to introduce you and Rockbell to the others."

I nodded then followed him out the office where he locked the door behind him.

We walked around the base. He showed me the room I'll be staying in, the mess hall where they ate, the kitchen, the stables then he took me to the attic where I could see the training ground from the window. I saw a bunch of teenagers my age, all in uniform, doing single combat, hand to hand or with small blades. I recognized Armin and Mikasa from Levi's descriptions. Then I saw a brown haired boy flip a honey haired boy with a long face.

"Is that Eren?" I asked pointing at him who was mocking the other boy who was on the floor.

Levi came over my shoulder and looked out the window.

"The one over Kirstein? Yes that's Eren." he said.

I followed him back to his office where I saw Winry sitting on the couch, staring at the floor her uniform put on perfectly and her hair tied back in a ponytail.

"Winry!" I yelled running to her.

"Ed!" She shot up and ran to hug me.

We stood there for awhile in each others arms until Levi coughed loudly and we quickly separated from each other our faces a bit red. Levi just looked at us with a critical glare then sighed.

"Ms Rockbell, I don't believe we have been properly introduced, I'm Corporal Levi, captain of the special operation squad. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Winry Rockbell, the pleasure's all mine." she said suspiciously.

Then Levi explained you her about what happened from when he saved us from the Titan, my fight against him, how he knows about Amestris and what I told him and what he told me.

After his tale, Winry seemed to trust Levi a lot more.

"So now, Elric is going to be temporarily joining my squad until we can get you home. And I heard of your mechanical genius, so you will be staying here and helping squad leader Zoe Hange. I'm sure you will get along magnificently."

She nodded enthusiastically the said:
"Thank you Captain! I appreciate your generosity!" she thanked bowing down.

"Why can't all the cadets be as polite as you two?" Levi mumbled.

He opened the door then led us the mess hall where the others were already eating lunch. He told us to wait in the hall then walked in. The room immediately went silent and all the cadets stood up and saluted him.
"Captain Levi, sir!" 

Wow... he must really be important to the military...

He told them to sit back down, then cleared his throat.

"After our battle with the Female Titan, our numbers have dropped drastically." he started keeping his flat face. 

A gloomy aura settled in the room as the Scouts stared at their plates dejectically. Especially Eren, who was looking down, his fists clenched, a look of anger and guilt in his turquoise eyes. 

"So I will announce that two more people will join the Survey Corp."

A murmur traversed the room once again, Levi silenced them quickly and all eyes were on him.

"Let me introduce you to Edward Elric and Winry Rockbell." he said signaling for us to come it.

We walked to either side of him and I felt all eyes on me as I tried to look confident.

"Despite not going through the training program, Elric has proven himself worthy of joining the Scouts and Ms Rockbell will be staying in HQ working alongside squad leader Hange Zoe in mechanics and technology in which she is very advanced. Any questions? No? Then everybody take you plates and follow me." he said storming away.

What? Where are they going?

"Edward, Winry, follow me!"

We smiled and waved awkwardly at the shocked crowd then ran after the Lance Corporal.
