Chapter 24

(Hange's POV)

"So the charges against us have been removed?" repeated Edward, looking at me incredulously.

"That's right," I answered, enthusiastically. "After the military's little scheme, the royal capital of Mitras is under Zackly's control. Erwin has been released and is back in his seat as Commander of the Survey Corp."

As Levi went over the official papers again, the cadets behind him started jumping around in joy. Hitch and Marlowe, who came with me, joined them. Connie was jumping around like a rabbit, Sasha and Armin were crying in relief, Mikasa was patting Armin on the back, Edward was whooping like a maniac and the two MPs and Jean laughed together like old friends.

"And the noblemen haven't protested yet, so I'd say it's a job well done." I told the shortstack.

"What did you do to them?" he asked me suspiciously.

"Surprisingly, nothing... I just used Dimo Reeves' son to expose the MPs to the press." I answered him.

He rolled his eyes and didn't ask for the details, he just looked over at his squad.

"Oh and I'm sorry, those two you sent, they died. And for nothing might I add, we didn't get anywhere with finding Eren and Historia's location." he apologised.

"Well, nothing we can do about that... but there is some good news. I have a hunch about where our missing two can be."

The minute I said that, the others went silent and looked at me expectantly.

"Let's get moving, I'll tell you on the way." I said pointing to the horses.

"So spit it out, where do you think they are?" urged Levi, who was sitting on the edge of the cart.

I could tell that he was anxious to know where we're going, or more specifically, he wants to get Eren back as soon as possible.

"Well, I'll do my best to summarize, but we have plenty of time, we'll be on the road for awhile," I replied. "Point is, I have strong reasons to suspect that Rod Reiss captured the two of them so that he can get Historia to eat Eren."

"What?!" exclaimed Mikasa and Edward at the same time.

"You see, titan shifters are titans who managed to acquire the primal titans' powers by eating somebody with those powers, which is why titans are eating any human in sight, they hope to be able to land on the titan shifter powers. Which then proves that Historia is being set up to eat Eren, thus getting his titan abilities. But there's more, you see, five years ago, when Wall Maria fell, the Reeves family went into the chapel on their grounds to pray, but then the incident came around, supposedly bandits came, killed the family and set the building on fire. The chapel was destroyed, the only survivor, Rod, then decided to start searching for his illegitimate daughter, but not before he had that chapel rebuilt."

"So you think that this chapel is where we should go?" finished Levi.

"Think about it, it's a stone structure, fire would maybe weaken the foundation but it wouldn't bring it down, so the 'bandits' must have had proper machinery to bring it down, but that doesn't make sense because why would bandits want to destroy a building? So something else must have destroyed it and killed the Reiss family."

"Fair enough, let's go to that chapel." Levi declared.

"YES SIR!!" the cadets all saluted at the same time.

timeskip (Edward's POV)

The two hour ride to the chapel was probably one of the most uncomfortable one I've ever been a part of. Nobody was saying anything, or smiling, or even moving, I just sat there nervously as my eyes darted from person to person, they all looked the same. Even the usually excited Hange looked down in the dumps, we were all worried about our comrades and all a bit shocked that Historia might have to eat Eren. And when we got to our destination, I gladly jumped off the edge of the cart.
