Chapter 17

(Edward's POV)

How many hours have past? Four? Five? Well however long it's been, I'm starting to get annoyed. Crouching down like this to move this stupid platform is killing my back. I haven't felt pain like this since Izumi's training.

Damn me! If I had killed those two when I had the chance, this wouldn't have happened and I wouldn't be here.

Well, nothing I can do about it now, I have a friend to save, some traitors to beat shitless, all that and hoping that my back won't break. Great.

I followed them at a safe distance, staying close to the ground. Reiner, as the Armored Titan was carrying everyone, Ymir was gripped tightly in his hand, Eren in his other and Bertholdt was sitting peacefully on the titan's head. Then I saw a forest of tall trees ahead of them. And when Reiner's human body emerged from the titan, I supposed that they were taking a break so I went around the forest and I hid in the branches of a tree far away from them.

I felt a sudden pang of nostalgia, this reminded me of that day when Levi found us. I smiled at the thought, I was so scared of the titans and confused that I couldn't think straight, it was a fun day though.

When that memory passed, I started to think about who I'm up against. I never really talked with Bertholdt or Reiner when I got to the base. I didn't really feel like I had to get to known them. But from what the others told me, Reiner is a fearsome soldier, always seemed like the honorable type as for Bertholdt, people always see him as the quiet one, he doesn't open much but Armin told me that he suspects that he has a crush on Annie, the Female Titan.

I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I didn't want to risk them seeing me so I didn't get closer. But I distinctly saw them cutting off Ymir's legs and Eren's arms. Ymir woke up shortly after and Eren about half an hour later.

Jeez... he really sleeps too much.

They talked about more shit for awhile, and I got so bored that I started to fall asleep. Are all recon missions going to be like this? Cause I rather not go through this again. Then several lines of green smoke rose from the a distance, the Scouts were coming. Reiner and Bertholdt took the other two and shot their gear hooks up o the tree bark and started to cross the forest.

I was a bit conflicted, my only order from Hange was to make sure that they didn't get to far before the Survey Corp could catch up. So do I go with the others and follow orders or get Eren back?

Screw it.

I jumped off the tree, and created a platform that I then used to catch up with the titan shifters. I moved as fast as I could, and in a couple minutes, I was ahead of them but about a hundred feet to their left and they didn't seem to see me yet. I cut in quickly and before they could notice me, I shot the dirt upwards in a perfect pillar and transformed my metal arm into a blade.

"What?!" Bertholdt practically shrieked.

"Surprise bitches." I said, seriously pissed.

I moved the column to block Reiner's path, after that I sliced the leather strap that was strapping Eren's back to the blond, then I caught the armless boy and ran away to put as much distance between us as possible.

"My god Ed, you could have been more careful, I think you sliced my back." he chuckled as he looked at where the straps used to be.

"Oh shut up, you are in no position to complain, do you have any idea what I had to go through just to get here?" I scolded looking at the boy who was sitting behind me.

He looked at me confused for a minute, then he laughed and so did I.

"Good to have you back Eren." I said smiling, looking back ahead of me.
