Chapter 14

(Eren's POV)

"What?" I mumbled, my face frozen with disbelief.

The commander looked down, not daring to look at us. Levi was dead serious as usual and Miss Hange was frowning. I turned my head slowly until I was looking at my feet, my fists clenched on my knees.

"We need the Fullmetal brat... If there's a breach in Wall Rose, we will need him to plug it back." stated the Captain.

"But we have no way of knowing when he will wake up. It could be in days or weeks! And we don't have that sort of time." said Hange. "If only he had titan regeneration..."

That's it!

"What if I could share my regeneration power? Is that possible?" I asked looking at the scientist.

"If you could, then he should be good to go. But these titan powers depass my knowledge, they don't scientifically make sense so unless I run some experiments I can't know for sure. But I guess it could be possible..." she answered.

"That's good enough for me." I declared.

I jumped to my feet, took a knife from the drawer and looked at the blade.

"What are you planning on doing brat?" asked Levi.

"Sharing my Titan DNA."

I cut my hand, the blood gushing to the floor from the deep wound. It probably stung, but I couldn't feel the pain, I was only focused on bringing Ed back to his feet. I opened his mouth and dropped as much blood as I could into it. When it was full, I put my still bleeding hand on his face and forced him to swallow.

We waited from a moment. The room suddenly felt deadly silent and I could feel the stress building on my shoulders. When he wasn't waking up, I felt the tears come up.

"Come on you bastard! Get the hell up! Stop being so fucking selfish, get your ass up and help us defeat these sons of bitches!" I shouted crying on his chest.

"Okay... okay... you can stop yelling..." croaked a voice next to my right ear.

I lifted my head and saw those golden eyes staring right at me with a pained smile on his face.

"ED!!" I shouted.

I tackled him in a hug and cried some more in his shoulder.

"Oof! Yes, yes! I'm happy to see you too! Now let's not kill me before butchering those titans..."

I let him go and nodded eagerly. He looked behind me and saw our superiors looking in shock at us. Levi rolled his eyes and threw a new uniform at the alchemist.

"Get your ass moving, we're leaving at midnight. You've got about 11 hours to do what you need to do. Yeager, stay with him. Don't let him do anything stupid." he said getting up.

"Yes sir!" I saluted.

The others smiled then followed Levi out of the room. We heard them talk to each other in hushed tones but I ignored and helped Ed get in his uniform.

1 hour later

Once I finished helping Ed out with his uniform and hair. We decided to go to the training field to see if he really is all good to go. We got to the field, then ran a couple laps, did some basic physical exercises. So far he was all good, he had his usual energy and didn't seem depleted at all.

We moved on to combat training, I got my assed kicked again, he had my hand pinned on my back and his knee on my shoulder blade. We laughed for a little bit then he helped me up. That's when the others found us and ran to us.

"EDWARD!!!" yelled Winry.

She threw a wrench at him, hitting him square in the forehead. Then she tackled him and they fell to the ground, the girl crying on him.

"You moron!" she sobbed.

"Hey Winry..." he huffed, getting up slowly rubbing his head.

Mikasa put her forehead to the ground near Edward's feet.

"I'm sorry for what I did." she apologized. "You can kill me here and now, I deserve it." she said holding him a blade.

"What?! No! It's fine! Get up! I'm the one who chose to do it, you have nothing to apologize for." he said waving his hands defensively.

"Thank you so much... you have no idea how much that means to me cutie..." she cried hugging his head, tears falling into his hair.

She suddenly stopped crying and we all started laughing. Armin joined us and hugged Ed too. We all went back to the base together laughing and joking around. But then I remembered something and my face fell.

"Guys... We need to get ready."

"What why? Eren, what happened?" asked Mikasa, worried.

I told her about what Thomas told Erwin. That titans have been spotted inside Wall Rose and the plan to leave at midnight. The mood changed immediately. Winry checked her watch, it was 7:49.

"Let's go get the horses ready." decided Armin, pointing to the stables.

We did just that. Putting the saddles, fed them and made sure that the carts were ready to go. After that we prepared our 3DM gear and put the final straps on. At 11:45, we joined Jean, Sasha, Connie, Bertholdt, Reiner, Ymir and Christa in the courtyard. None of them looked very joyful, even Connie looked depressed. Suddenly, Hange came in with Levi, holding between them, a man with a bag on his head. The tied up man seemed to be resisting but that quickly ended with Levi hitting the back of his head.

"Cadets Yeager, Ackerman, Arlert, Elric and Rockbell, in this cart with me and squad leader Hange. The rest of you, go into the other carts." ordered Levi.

We all shouted a 'yes sir' than got into the carts. The squad leaders dragged the man into the cart, and sat him down on the bench across us. They sat on either side of him then removed the bag, revealing Minister Nick. The carts moved forwards and we rode through the night southwards.

"Captain, why is Minister Nick here?" asked Armin.

"After interrogating this guy for several hours, we learned that his cult, the Church of the Walls, knew the secret about the walls but they chose to hide it from the rest of the world." answered Hange.

I blew up, I was seriously pissed, I threw a couple insults before Armin and Ed calmed me down and sat me back on the bench. We were quiet for awhile, nothing much happening apart from the casual bump or crack on the road.

"Why are you playing with a rock?" asked Levi, looking at Hange.

She explained that this was a part of Annie's hardened titan skin that she managed to get from the battle in the Stohess District. She explained her analyses and how it didn't vanish like a titan's corpse usually would.

"So since we all saw the titan in the wall, my theory is that the walls are made of this stuff, and so if Eren can master the hardening ability, he could help Ed fix and reclaim Wall Maria." concluded Hange.

I looked down at my knees.

Guess it's another responsibility for me and Ed...

When we finally made it to Ehrmich District. The carts separated course. Krista and Ymir went one way and Connie took a squad towards him hometown. Ours going straight through the city gates. We went into town and forced Nick to see the sad and miserable people who were refugees from the titan threat.

"This is what keeping you secret has caused you bastard." hissed Levi to Nick.

The Minister looked horrified but he was still refusing to tell us. But he did say:

"Why don't you ask the person going under a fake name into the 104th training corp, you might want to talk to them instead."
