(Edward's POV)
I felt someone shaking my shoulders and yelling my name. My eyes were closed but I felt a hard surface, like dirt under my back and warm sunlight was washing over my face. The voice was muffled and unclear but it somehow felt familiar. I decided to find out who it was, so I opened my eyes slowly. The sun was shining and my eyesight was blurry as hell but I could slowly see a mop of long blond hair in a turquoise tank top looming over me. I blinked a few times in an attempt to focus. Once I could see clearly again, I saw a set of bright blue eyes that were filled with concern and relief.
"Winry?" I mumbled, squinting to make sure I wasn't seeing things.
"You moron!" she punched my stomach and I immediately shot up.
"Fuck! What was that for?!" I yelled hugging my stomach with my metal arm.
"I thought you were dead! You dumbass! I was worried! And besides, you still have to explain where the hell we are and what is going on?" she yelled.
"What are you talking about..." I said.
I stopped mid sentence when I saw the multitude of these super tall trees. They must have been at least 130 feet tall because they were only letting out a small amount of sunlight. But what really bothered me is that I never read or heard about trees like this existing anywhere in Amestris.
"I never saw trees like these before..." said Winry putting a hand out.
"Maybe we're in Xing?" I said taking her hand and hoisting myself up.
"Maybe..."
"It's so weird! One minute I was in my room working on some new automail techniques then I appeared here, and you were unconscious next to me!"
"That is weird... But let's take it one step at the time and try to figure where we are first, okay?"
She nodded and we began to walk around, trying to find a clue about where we were. As I walked I tested out my right arm, fortunately everything seemed to be in place and functioning.
Then I remembered what that blank faced bastard told me in the other dimension.
The other universe...
Then several loud thumps resonated through the forest. We froze in place as a shadow appeared behind us. By the time the thumping stopped, we were in a huge shaded area that stretched several yards infront of us. We turned around and came face to face with a monster.
It was by far the most horrifying thing I'd ever seen. It was at least 45 feet tall, coppery-yellow skin, practically human except for the crotch part that seemed to be missing but the worse was its face, it had a bunch of blond curls, these long thin eyes and a big toothy smile.
Holy shit...
It just stared at us intensely with that creepy smile for at least a few minutes, like it was analysing us. Then it opened it's big mouth, a long tongue hanging out, like a hungry dog. Then it ran towards us.
I pulled Winry by the waist clapped my hands together and put them to the ground. I forced the ground below us to move forwards as fast as I could possibly make it. At least I knew my alchemy worked in this universe and thank god it did.
"ED! What is that!!" she yelled in my ear.
"HOW WOULD I KNOW!" I yelled back. "LET'S JUST SAY THAT IT'S BAD!"
I kept my palms on the ground, trying to move as fast as I could, but the giant freak was slowly catching up. Beads of sweat began to form on my forehead as the stress began to get to me.
"Uh Ed..." she said turning my head around.
"WHAT? CAN'T YOU SEE I'M... shit..." I cursed.
Now there were several running behind the first giant. They were all different, in terms of size and face but they all had a hungry look in their eyes as they ran abnormally in our direction. I spun my head back forwards, but I was too late. I didn't have enough time to veer away from from a giant tree. I hit my back hard against the trunk and Winry crashed against my chest. We slumped down to the huge roots, my head was spinning and I felt Winry curled in a ball on my lap. I looked up and saw dozens of big eyes staring at us like we were a five course meal.
I'm gonna die, aren't I? Sorry Al, guess I won't be able to get our bodies back to normal...
I decided to keep my eyes open, I hugged Winry's head to my chest then prepared myself to be eaten alive.
But something unexpected happened, at the back of the tall crowd several thin lines of white smoke was rising up, I blinked twice, then half of the monsters were on the ground turning to smoke and ash. I could see a blur swishing from one giant to another, zipping behind them, I could see slashes of blood as they fell like flies until there was only the blond one left, but even that one didn't last long as the blur flashed behind its neck, a wave of blood flew through the air then the giant was a desistegrating carcass crashing to the ground.
I looked at the huge dead face that was only a few feet from my foot, then looked up and saw a man standing on the beast's back. His back was facing me so all I saw was a strange machine on his hips, twin blades in both his hands and I could see some sort of set of bicolor wings on his cape. I had a hard time seeing the colors and his features because of the backlight, but he just stood there not putting his swords away.
"Hey kid!" he said suddenly. "Mind explaining who the hell you are and what are you and your friend doing so far from the walls?"
Huh?
