Chapter 23

(Marlowe's POV)

"What a drag..." complained Hitch. "We didn't get top ten in our Cadet Corp just to be doing patrol outside Wall Sina."

I rolled my eyes and just kept walking. This girl was starting to get on my nerves, she has no ambitions whatsoever and her laziness is incomparable. At least Annie did her job. Makes me wonder why the hell this girl even jointed the military.

"Just keep walking." I sighed.

So we did, but what she didn't do, was stop moaning about the job. To the point where I just couldn't take it anymore.

"Would you stop whining about what you signed up for and just do what you're told?!" I snapped.

"Jeez... no need to get testy." she said defensively.

This girl is going to be the death of me.

Then we heard a slosh coming from the right, it sounded like something was stopping the river flow. I shot a look at Hitch and she nodded in response. We quietly crept towards the water and ducked behind the shrubbery. We shot a look over the hedge and saw a hooded figure, taking water from the stream, on the green cape was the survey corp symbol.

"Freeze!" shouted Hitch, pointing her gun and the scout. "Military Police! Hands where I can see them and turn around slowly."

The person raised it's hands and turned around. It was a boy, about our age, blonde hair and big blue eyes. We raised our guns at his face but for some reason, he didn't seem the least bit scared.

And soon we understood why. Suddenly the two of us has blades pressed against our throats and two faces appeared right next to our ears.

"Lower the guns, or we will slit you and your friend's throat." hissed the man holding me hostage.

We dropped our guns to the floor and we let the blonde boy tie us up. The two that were menacing us, moved in front of us and I immediately recognised one of them.

"You're Corporal Levi! Humanity's strongest soldier!" I exclaimed.

"Sure kid." he said plainly.

"Captain, so we take their uniforms as planned?" asked the black haired girl.

"Yeah, take their jackets and guns." the captain ordered.

A brown haired girl and a taller boy took off our jackets then handed them to their superior who grabbed them.

"Two should be enough, we will send in Jean and Mikasa. As for you two, I hope you understand, we'll have to keep you tied up here, we'll let you go when we're done."

They started to walk away.

"Excuse me Corporal Levi sir! Can I ask what you're planning to do? I want to help!" I shouted.

"Oh? Why would you want to do that?" he asked crouching in front of me.

"I don't like the Military Police, I don't like the way they do things, I joined the military to make a difference, and so far, only the scouts have, so I want to help you as much as I can." I answered confidently.

"Ah. So you're a bit of a rebel huh? What about her?" he asked pointing at Hitch with the hilt of his sword.

"I don't trust you," she spat. "Not after what you did to Annie. She's gone because of you, why did you have to get her involved in Stohess? She was not even under your jurisdiction!"

"You MP cadets are a bunch of dumbasses, you just swallow whatever your superiors give you, well, let me tell you something, and you probably won't like it, but honestly, I don't care. Your friend Annie, is actually the female titan that we had to apprehend for obvious reason." Captain Levi told her harshly.
