(Week 6, day 7)

"What are we doing here?" asked Edward.

"We're here to make sure we have a safe route to Shiganshina. Didn't I tell you before leaving?" replied his captain.

"No you didn't, you just pulled me out of bed then dragged me to the stables." said the alchemist.

The sun was barely rising and they were south of Wall Rose and were in the middle of titan territory. It was just the two of them, crossing the forest, Levi was all cleaned up in his uniform but the boy was a complete wreck, his long hair was a mess, he looked half dead and he was still wearing his pajamas. None of them had 3DMG and the corporal seemed completely fine with it.

"Is it really safe to be this close to Wall Maria just the two of us, no gear nothing?" asked Edward, as they passed the trees one by one.

"Of course it's not safe, which is why if we meet one of those titan bastards, you get us out of here as fast as possible."

"Oh joy." sighed the boy.

Once they were out of the forest, they could see the foot of the mountain, and further away was the fallen city of Shiganshina. Once they made sure that the path was safe for horses to walk on, they started to hike back up, dragging the animals up by the reigns.

"So how did the dinner go yesterday?" asked Levi, breaking the silence.

"According to Armin, it well relatively well, they didn't get busted and things went smoothly, well, that's what he told me." replied the boy.

"Good. I'm glad."

"Wait. You're glad?! When did that happen?"

"Am I not allowed to be happy that my squad members got back in one piece?"

"Yes you are, but when were you ever? THE Corporal Levi, genuinely glad that his comrades are back, you usually are like: 'Good, I don't have to go through the paperwork needed to replace you'." he said, imitating Levi's flat tone.

"I don't sound like that."

"Uh yea, you do. But seriously, what happened to you?"

"I have no idea what you're rambling on about."

"No, no, I think you do." smirked Edward.

"What's that supposed to mean Fullmetal?" asked the captain, stopping in front of the alchemist.

"See! You didn't even call be brat! You my level headed captain, are getting soft."

"What?"

"You know exactly what I said."

"Is that disrespect?"

"No, this is a good thing." answered Edward, swinging his arm across Levi's shoulders. "This my friend, means that you are one step closer to admitting that you're depressed."

"The hell?"

"You heard me."

"You're delusional, you sure you don't have fever."

"No of course not I'm jus-" he said stopping mid sentence.

"Just what?"

"Uh Levi?"

"Yeah."

"Remember that plan you had, I think we should put it in motion."

The boy was stone faced, he was pointing behind the corporal. So Levi looked behind him and saw a Titan approaching them, it's eyes were set on them, a frightening smile on it's grotesque face as it got closer. It was about 10 meters tall and it was bald.

"I agree, get us out of here." hissed the captain.

The boy clapped his hands together and moved the ground below them and the horses and shot it up the mountain before the Titan could get closer.

"How did it go?" asked Erwin, who was sitting behind his desk.

The two of them were sitting on the couches in front of him, one was sitting normally, keeping his composure, but the other was lying on his back, on the other couch, and was still in his nightwear, arching his back backwards, trying to crack it back into place.

"The route to Shiganshina is determined and safe to travel on." declared Levi.

"Well except for a couple titans and a seriously backbreaking ride." Edward interjected, lifting his hand to point at the ceiling. "And don't expect me to bail you out again, come up with a better plan next time."

The captain just took off his glove and threw it at his subordinate's face. It made a whipping noise as it made contact with the boy's face.

"Ow!"

"Disrespect is condemned here Elric." he hissed taking his glove back. "Then again, when I look at your Colonel, I'm not really surprised."

"Then take it up with him! Leave me out of it!"

"I will."

On that note, he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. Erwin just sighed and went back to his paperwork. Edward just stared at the door then looked at the commander.

"He knows that I was kidding right?"

"He is a really dense person, so I wouldn't count on it." replied Erwin, not lifting his eyes from the documents.

"Oh shit!" shouted the boy, scrambling to his feet.

He ran out the door and ran up the stair to the Colonel's room, the door was closed but he just pushed it open, he was panting and his pajamas were slightly sweaty. But he wasn't expecting what he saw at all. Instead of Levi beating up his superior, he saw that the colonel and the captain were at a table, drinking tea and chatting like old friends.

"Oh Fullmetal! We were just talking about you!" said Mustang.

"You were?"

"Yes we were." said Levi, putting his cup down. "I have decided to ask the Colonel about your 'exploits' as a state alchemist."

"You did?"

"And I must say, some are very interesting. Is it true that you got beat up by a little girl's dog?"

"What?"

"And that that dog managed to pin you down with it's size alone?"

"Mustang... what else did you tell him?" hissed the shortie, as he started to steam.

"Well...." listed the black haired man, counting several dozens of times on his fingers.

"How? I didn't get here that much later after you!" exclaimed Fullmetal.

"When there's a will there's a way." smirked Levi, sipping on his tea.

"Did I tell you that time when he tried almost killed that state alchemist for calling him a runt? First he squished him in stone then after he called him little, he slapped him with a stone hand."

"Oh really? And here I was thinking that I was pissed about being short." replied Levi staring inside his cup.

"Because you are short!" shouted Edward.

"Then what are you? Microscopic?" teased Levi.

The young alchemist was about to say something, but he calmed himself, knowing that there was no way he was getting out of this situation without a bruise.

"Fine. You win. I will be more respectful." surrendered Edward.

"Wow Levi, you have my admiration, I've never seen Elric give up like that." congratulated Mustang.

"Pain the best way to inculcate discipline, whether it's physical of mental, a blow to the pride works every time."

"I'll be sure to keep that in mind." thanked Mustang.

"IT WON'T WORK WITH YOU!! YOU HAVE NO PRIDE!" yelled Edward.
