Chapter 20

(Mikasa's POV)

We were sitting around the wooden table, at our usual seats except for a couple empty gaps. Nobody had touched their meals, Levi was sipping on whatever was in that cup this time and the rest of us were biting our lips or fidgeting with our fingers. It's been four days since Dimo Reeves was murdered and Eren and Historia were kidnapped. It's been making us all worried sick, this enemy, was a strong one and he was becoming a pain in the ass.

We were waiting for Hange to get back from Trost with news from the commander and I was in my own world. I had, once again, let Eren get kidnapped. Will I ever me able to keep my promise to Carla? I'm not sure anymore.

But my thoughts were interrupted when the door stormed open and the section commander barged in.

"How did it go?" Sasha asked hopefully.

"It's bad, the military accused the Levi squad for Reeves' and Nick's murder and Erwin has been arrested, he appointed me as commander for now but I'm not sure how to proceed." she answered.

"Those damn MPs!" hissed Jean. "I can't believe I ever thought of joining them."

"Not the point," inserted Levi. "More importantly, now we will be considered fugitives and criminals anywhere within Wall Rose."

The mood exponentially dropped as the truth hit us in the face, we will have to run away from our own military.

"Not to mention that Eren and Historia are still missing." the captain said flatly.

Then we fell deeper in depression. The two of the most important people in our squad were kidnapped, humanity's hope and the true heir of the throne. But most importantly, my brother was gone.

"So what are we going to do captain?" asked Armin.

"We're going to Stohess tomorrow, we're going to investigate and hopefully find a clue to find those two's whereabouts. Take your gear and capes. Except for Edward, your existence is still unknown to anyone outside us, Hange, Erwin and Moblit so put casual clothes." he answered.

"Take two of my squad members, I'll have to stay in Trost and I'll see what I can find about Pastor Nick and Reeves' murders, so they'll report back to me."

"Fine, tell them to meet us behind the gate."

She nodded and walked out the door and jumped on her horse. We listened to the hoofbeats until they disappeared completely.

"All of you go to bed, all of you should be up and ready by 7 am, tomorrow we ride for the Stohess District." he declared before leaving up the stairs to his room.

Ed was the first to leave, I left with Armin a bit after the alchemist and the two of us went up the stairs in silence. Me, Armin and Eren were sharing a room since we got here, but now, with Eren gone, for once, his side of the room was clean and tidy, his things put away under the bed. We stood behind the door and sighed. The two of us went in and Armin took the first shower. I bounced on Eren's bed and waited for Armin to finish.

I will get you back, no matter how many people I'll have to slaughter to get to you.

(Edward's POV)

Once Levi had gotten up the stairs, I was the first to leave the table. I went straight into his room and closed his door behind me. He was sitting behind his deskd, his head in his hands.

"Hey you okay?" I asked.

"Why wouldn't I be?" he replied coldly looking at me.

I rolled my eyes and sat in front of him and looked at him directly in his eyes.

"You my friend, are experiencing something called anxiety, wanna talk about it?"

"Tch, whatever brat."

"Look, don't make it difficult, I don't know why, but for some reason, in your world you don't see people talking about their feelings so much, which makes me an expert here in this universe, so stop acting tough and tell me."

"I gave no idea what you're talking about, so stop probing your superior and go to bed." he said getting off his chair.

He started to walk towards his bathroom and closed the door sharply.

These guys are so uptight.  I guess this is the price to pay to save humanity from titans.
