Chapter 8

(Levi's POV)

When Elric and Arlert ran out of the room to follow Eren. I told myself to not follow, but I just couldn't. 

I pushed back my chair and left the room walking quickly. My first guess was to go to the brats' room, but it was empty. There was nothing put a layer of filth under the beds.

Disgusting.

I quickly grabbed a rag and cleaned the dust. That's when I heard the familiar sound of Alchemy's electric rumbles.

Fullmetal!

I rushed out of the room and went outside, only to find a tall and uneven pillar of stone and dirt. I climbed up in seconds, I was about to go on the roof, but Eren's voice made me freeze behind the wall.

"... someone I admired for their strength, and now people are counting on me to kill her, aren't they? And the truth is, I can't kill her, I can't kill a friend."

My heart sank. Eren really looked up to Cadet Leonhart. Could I blame him? They're the same age, both are titan shifters, born from the same pain and they shared meaningful time together.

"... if I let the person that killed so many of our own, Petra, Oluo, Eld and Gunther... how could I let her live knowing that she killed people... How? HOW?!!" he shouted.

That's the first time a single tear fell from my eye, since Isabel and Furlan's deaths.

Fucking brat... look at what situation you're putting me in...

I wiped the water off my face, then slumped against the wall. He knew, I made sure that I didn't show anything when my whole squad died, then how did he know? 

I waited a few more minutes, then took a peak over the roof, the three of them were fast asleep. Fullmetal on Eren's right, and the bookworm on his left, their arms were wrapped around Eren's chest and the Titan brat was holding their arms on his chest. I looked at his face, he was smiling through the drying tears on his face and he seemed at peace with himself.

Glad you managed to make a decision, brat.

I hopped through my office window that I let open to freshen the air, grabbed a spare blanket from the cupboard. Then took it to the sleeping Cadets. I couldn't let important assets catch a cold. I threw it on them and began to walk away.

"Goodnight, brat." 

Short chapter, I'll another to the quota, again.
