2312 CHAPTER 001

Our time on Earth is limited. But during our stay, how many things have we achieved? Will we remembered for something we did, or be forgotten by time? On this short limited count, we should make even the seconds to count. Never regret anything, besides... We only have one and only life, one moment to live and everything depends on our own acts and desires.

________

1st, August

It was this once a year check up that Win had to do. He didn't have any illness or health problems, he just did it for superstition reasons. And yet everytime, he was scared shitless, living in fear of the doctors discovering something bad about his health. Well, the way they examined him seemed more like a satanic ritual for the bunny boy. Needles here and there, some bandages, some weird beeping machines, oh.... and the very cold instruments touching and caressing everywhere allover his goddamn body. He totally hated the cold, so yeah, he had a very reason he needed to avoid his annual check up. All that was missing now were the excuses, and he's running out of it.

Of course, Bright, his best friend, dragged the younger boy all the way to the hospital, and even put him in the examination room and then waited for him at the waiting room.

All these years, Bright would always accompany the brunet to the hospital as he knew the boy wouldn't even dare to step inside the crappy hospital.

He was used to it, used to Win's countless beggings, yellings, punches, and his swearings for taking him there but it was amusing for him.The younger boy seemed  to make his monotonous life even brighter.

_____

"So?" the tall bunny boy asked in agony, waiting for the results as he was shaking his both two legs.

"Do you want water or anything?" the doctor retorted, not answering the young man.

Win sighed in disbelief and rested his both two hands on the doctor's table. "Are you not answering my question, doc?"

"Well, it depends on whether you can take it or not, young man,"

"J-just tell me," the young man begged. "y-you found something, didn't you? I have problem somewhere in my body, is that it?"

"Calm down first, Mr. Opas-iamkajorn. I will explain everything, step by step." the doctor responded as he clicked something on his computer file, showing to Win a black and white of what it appeared to be a CT scan. He then continued as he pointed with his pencil's eraser at the white area. "Do you see this? It's a tumor."

The tall boy shook his head in confusion. "I-i really don't understand, doctor..."

The male doctor sighed and answered the young man. "You have pancreatic cancer, Mr. Opas-iamkajorn."

Win was shocked. He didn't really understand the first word, but the second was all very clear to him. He couldn't even utter a single word as his jaw dropped completely.

"It is very rare for your age actually. And to be honest, we haven't seen such an incident before so we don't really know how to deal with your illness.... if it has any cure."

"Wait doctor, hold on. Let me get these all straight.... A-are you saying that nothing can be done at all about my condition? About this pancreatic cancer thingy?"

The male doctor slowly nodded his head.

"We can only start chemotherapy and just believe in miracles. Would you mind if you often come for tests? This is a very rare condition, and if we study yours, it might really help not just yourself, but also the other future patients as well."

The brunet didn't replied. He just glanced on the floor with gloomy eyes and then back to the doctor's face.

"Can I ask something?" Win asked as he heaved a sigh. "H-how much time do I still have, doc?"

"If it won't metastasize elsewhere, maybe around a year."

Win is almost in teary eyes as he finally stood up from his seat and extended his hand to the doctor, making a handshake with him. He thanked the male doctor and then left his contact infos to the secretary so that he would come back again soon. He then exited the room with a heavy heart and stood silent, thinking what just freaking happened back then. He couldn't held his tears in anymore, they just flowed like a waterfalls down from his eyes and he was using his sleeves to clean them all up. For all these years, he was scared of just one thing, that one day, the doctors will tell him he is not healthy as he is, and that day finally arrived.

Then, Win's phone suddenly rang, he took it out from his pocket and glanced at the screen to see the caller ID. It was Bright.

He quickly wipped away any tears he had and tried to calm his voice before he finally answered the call.

"Y-yes?"

"Are you done there, bro? Where are you?"

Win bit his lower lip before he answered. "I just got out, Bright... W-wait for me at the entrance, ok?"

"Ok Win, just hurry up, please? It's so fucking hot in here. The air conditioner isn't working."

"Ok, chill. I got it, I got it," Win chuckled softly. "I'm hanging up."

Bright's comments made Win forget about his problems for a while, he made him laugh as always. He placed his phone back to his pocket and then proceeded to find the exit of the wild hospital, where the older one was waiting for him.

Bright was leaning against the wall, looking cool with his shades on while trying to make air with a magazine. Win gave him a not so friendly hit at the back and then wore the hat as he started walking in front of Bright.

"Wait first, bro, won't you tell me what happened?" Bright frowned.

"Y-you know that I'm always healthy, right? The doctors found nothing. Come on, let's just go home. I'm already so hungry." the bunny-like man gulped at his sentence. He was lying and didn't want Bright to find it out. He didn't want to worry him. And besides, he had only a year to live and be free. A year to spend his time with his best friend, and then boom, disappear.

They got in the car. Bright was sitting on the driver's seat and Win next to him. On their way home, Win would announce tomorrow's plans and how his day was since morning, but Win didn't even utter a single word, or rather he didn't seem interested. He had his mind elsewhere, getting lost in his own thoughts.

It was like he was a ghost, starring out at the window, watching the people laugh, eat, talk with each other, jog, or just walk... some daily things that were part of every person's routine. Yet, for the boy, all of those routines now seemed nostalgic. It would be a time where he could no more move, laugh, talk, walk, or even cry. He didn't want to die this early, he still didn't live his life the fullest yet.

The dark-haired older man noticed the younger man ignoring his existence and so, he chuckled. "Hey, galaxy calls Win! Are you even listening, pal?"

Win was tickled by Bright's touch and laughed loudly with his bunny teeth showing. "No, no! I'm sorry. I wasn't listening."

"Are you okay?"

Win took a deep breath. "Just thinking about something."

"Thinking about what?"

"Uhm, tomorrow is the deadline for our assignments, right? I didn't worked on mine at all, did you?"

Lies. Lies again.

"Oh shit, I totally forgot about that, Win! Thanks for reminding me!" Bright dramatically sighed as he hit the steering wheel in frustration.

Win faked out a laugh as he just turned on the radio and raised the volume so that Bright wouldn't continue asking him some uncomfortable stuffs until they reach their dorm.
