2312 CHAPTER 026

4th, November

Win has been admitted to the hospital for exactly a week, 5 days further than the doctors had scheduled for him to stay. Indeed, his condition has been worsened during his stay. The young boy slowly started to turn yellow again, lost weight, his stength and his energy. His appearance has also changed, there were fast changes compared to when he was healthy. Everyone was so worried, everyone pretended not to see those changes on the brunet's body, they kept telling him that he was still as normal as before. It's not like they could tell him the truth, Win has been denying to believe he had changed, and when Tay announced him that his skin turned yellow, he started crying like an infant, yelling that they are just making fun of him.

Everyone understood that the end was really getting closer.

Everyday, Win always had visitors. The news about his condition travelled so fast, and then soon, everyone knew about his illness, including even his high school classmates. Nine, his rest of his family, some seniors from his University, Bright's mom, or in short, everyone. But not his father. Was he even informed about his son's condition?

What really surprised Win the most though, was that Luke had visited him. The brunet hasn't seen that tall man since high school and yet there he was, suddenly standing right in front of the boy, his glance lowered down. Win gasped in surprise, not really believing his eyes.

On the other hand, Luke was worried about the boy's condition and body as he was so different since high school. This boy wasn't the same Win he once knew.

"L...Luke?! Is that really you?!"

Luke slowly nodded. "I came to see you here, Win. And it's been a long time."

"You only remembered me when you heard I was dying?" the boy frowned as he crossed his arms.

"No, I-i always-"

"Back then I was so confused about my sexuality and you supported me, helped me to discover who I really was and yet, when I decided to tell the truth to my parents, you were no where to be found already. Is this how much you cared for me, Luke? Is this what you call friendship? Not being there when your friend needs you so bad?" the younger boy raised his voice in madness, and Luke lowered his head more, his eyes piercing the floor.

"I was so young and immature back then! I panicked, I didn't know what to do, Win... I'm sorry na."

"Is this what you came for? To ask for forgiveness from a person that will die soon? Will it fix anything?"

"I just wanted to clear up the situation..."

Win chuckled at his response, he thought this was ridiculous. Upon the boy's smirk, Luke glanced up at him and started to sulk.

"Who told you about my condition?" the boy asked in a demanding tone.

Luke gulped, averting his eyes. He didn't want to respond.

The brunet glared at him with a sighed and then yelled once again in anger. "I'm asking you, you coward. Who told you about me?! Who?! You don't know how to talk anymore?!"

"... It's Bright. But everyone in the neighborhood knows it already."

The boy stood silent for a moment and then glanced back to Luke, this time with a calmer tone. "G-get out."

"Won't you hear me out at least?"

"Leave!" the younger boy yelled again, this time raising his hand and pointing at the door.

But Luke didn't move an inch.

"Just leave, Luke! Don't you understand? I'm mad right now, I want to be alone! Do you know how much I suffered and you weren't even there to help me? Go, leave... Now!" his voice cracked as he started coughing. Luke glanced at him worried but Win still glared at him. Eventually, Luke kind of retreated, turning his back at the boy as he lowered his head once again.

"I understand... I'll just leave."

After he closed the door, Win covered his face with his hands and bursted out into tears.

In the meantime, Bright and Weeraya were on their way to Bright's apartment. Weeraya wanted to take a new change of clothes for the boy, and other stuff the brunet might need while Bright really needed to take a shower and change his clothes, he was the one to stay awake that night to guard the boy. Both seemed tired and Weeraya couldn't hide her big eye bags anymore.

Weeraya opened her seat's window as she leaned to the side while Bright was smoking and at the same time, driving.

"Win and I told you countless times to stop smoking, won't you ever listen?" Weeraya sighed.

Bright took a sip of his cigarette as he bit his bottom lip. "Right now, I can't...This is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment."

The girl got startled at the black-haired boy's words, remembering the nightmare she had days ago. She then turned her face back to Bright.

"Win... Y-you know the end is drawing near for that boy... How are you holding up?"

"I try not to think about it... I try to believe that a miracle will happen, that this is just a bad dream or a joke..."

Bright tossed the halfway finished cigarette outside the window as he later slammed his hand on the wheel. "Just fuck this!"

Weeraya glanced at the younger and then the front window. There was an awkward silence between them for longer than 10 minutes. Eventually, they reached at their destination and the girl was the first to step out of the car, slamming the door behind her. Seconds later, Bright came out, locking the car and following behind the older. Even at the elevator, the awkward silence remained. Weeraya finally decided to open her lips.

"Bright, you know... If Win were to see you like that, he wouldn't like it. He didn't want to worry you in first place, hence he never told you about his illness until now. You have to be always strong for him, you have to show him that when he is no longer around, you will be fine by yourself. Stop making him worry about you and not himself."

Bright lowered his eyes as he sulked. Before he could say anything, the elevator's doors opened and the boy exited first. "We are here."

Weeraya followed him and waited for the younger to open the door. As soon as Bright unlocked the door, Weeraya stepped in and headed for Bright's bedroom. "Where are you going?" Bright asked.

Weeraya turned her head before going in. "I wanna borrow a shirt."

"Oh okay, second drawer on the right... I'm gonna take a shower now."

"I know." the girl murmured before going in, closing the door behind her. Weeraya headed straight for the wardrobe, where Bright keeps his accessories, and opened it, taking out a bag full of belts as she then dragged it outside the apartment, walking to the nearest waste disposal. The girl after she finished her task then run back inside the building, walking upstairs while covered in sweat as she closed the door behind her, leaning against it breathless.

"Success." she muttered with almost no breath. She had to hurry, so that Bright wouldn't notice her. Weeraya had to throw away the belts, she was scared that her dream would come true, that Bright would go insane and kill himself after Win's death soon.
