"He said you were being 'pissy' after you left, just to let you know." I do the air quotations with my fingers and then look at my hands cringing. Why the fuck did I just do that?
She looks over at me, her fiery eyes ignited. "Ughh that dick!" She shouts frustrated, clenching her fist into a small ball and hits it pathetically against the wood underneath us.
I smirk. 1-0 to Leo.
She try's to act all tough being mad at Will, but her reaction was so unexpected, I can't help but let out a laugh. She snaps her head at me clenches her jaw, her eyes shoot daggers at me.
"You're such a child." I mock in a winey voice, remembering when she called me a child on the first day we met.
Her mouth falls open and her eyes loose all the anger behind them as they go wide. I think she might start directing her hate towards me, but before I can go to apologise, she throws her head back in laughter.
A wide smile plastered on her face, she narrows her eyes. "Oh, shut up Leo." She sticks her tongue out at me, scrunching up her nose.
2-0 to Leo.
I shake my head and laugh lightly, looking out to the water. I like the way my name sounds coming from her mouth, the way each letter spills through her lips.
I want to hear her say it again.
"What are you smiling at?" She narrows her eyes suspiciously. Shit. I didn't realise I was still smiling.
With my amazingly quick thinking skills, I reach down to her foot and remove her right flip flop. "This." I say as I grab it and lob it as far into the lake as I can.
Her goes wide eyes and she screams."Leo! Why the fuck did you just do that?!" She hits my chest and I chuckle feeling that same rush as I did last night.
Before I can stop her, she grabs my left converse and tugs at the lace, it comes undone loosening the shoe. "Don't you dare." I say knowing what she's about to do.
She looks up at me and smiles wickedly, her eyes playful as she removes my shoe from my foot. Before I can grab it out of her hand, she throws it in front of us into the lake.
"I'm so gonna get you for that." I say, my voice deepening with seriousness. She squeals as I lung at her trying to grab her into my arms.
My plan being to throw her into the lake and then when she needs a shower later, maybe asking to get in with her. My plan doesn't work though, as she jumps up from the dock and sprints away from me, laughing freely.
I run after her, which is kinda hard wearing only one shoe. "Come back here." I shout after her, a massive grin on my face.
"Catch me if you can." She giggles, her voice coming from over her shoulder, as she doesn't turn to look back at me, to focused on running away from me.
Game on.
I chase her along the dock and up onto the grass bank, she laughs over her shoulder as she sprints away from me.
Her dark blonde hair flying in the wind as she tries to escape me, dodging my movements every time I get close.
Okay, I admit. This girl is way better at running than she lets off, there's no way she doesn't play sport. If she does, then she has a massive advantage and I fully blame the fact I can't reach her on that.
After a few more minutes of listening to her gorgeous laugh as she avoids my grasp, my fingers getting inches away from her soft skin right before she pulls away.
I grab her.
She squeals as I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her backwards a few paces, into my arms. It feels like slow motion as I finally have my arms around this unreal girl.
My laugh bright as she leans back into my chest trying to catch her breath from the running.
Without me realising it, she places her small hands on my biceps, only drawing my attention to it when she lightly digs her nails into my skin.
The slight pain makes my chest tighten and I pray to god nothing awkward is going to happen down there. Thankfully, I have a little self control as everything seems to be fine.
Still laughing, she turns around in my arms, her hands still placed on skin. I almost stop breathing when her eyes meet mine.
Her grey eyes sparkling with adrenaline, her cheeks a light shade of pink and her full lips parted. Her small chest rising and falling at a steady pace. I find myself being drawn towards her and I realise I've never been this close to her face.
This close to her lips.
I must be staring at her because the smile on her face drops and she takes her hands off my arms. An unwanted, cold sensation replacing the warmth that came with her touch.
I drop my hands from around her waist and she clears her throat while taking a step back, putting some space in between us.
I look away from her, trying to get more breathing to come back to normal, focusing on a group of guys hanging out around the lake.
"That was fun," she says softly and I turn to meet her eyes again.
"Yeah, it was." I chuckle, only half heartedly, still feeling weird about not being able to just lean down at kiss her right here and now.
"Thank you, I was having a pretty shit morning, but that definitely made it better." Jade laughs, looking away from me to behind her, almost as though she checking to see if anyone saw us.
Does she not want to be seen with me? I feel my jaw tense and the foreign rush of emotion drains from my body. My hands go into the pockets of my shorts and I feel the need to distract myself with something else.
Someone else.
It's like she senses it too as she clear her throat again, "Anyways, we should probably get back to the rooms. The group must be wondering where we are by now."
She says looking back towards the cabins and I know for her sake, I should probably listen to her. I press my lips together and nod silently, not looking back at her, I don't see any reason to argue.
"Lead the way."
