The kitchens are separated into three rooms, the serving bar, the preparation room and the cloak room. I make my way through the cloak room, Leo's footsteps follow behind me as I enter the preparation room.
There are two metal benches, for the making of the meals, in the middle of the room. The walls are lined with marble counter tops, double sinks either side of the room. Two pizza ovens sit at the far side of the room and a large fridge stands by the two swinging doors, that lead into the serving bar.
My eyes widen as I see the double sinks pulled high with dirty plates and dishes. I sigh and turn to see Leo who's looking around the
room with his hands in his pockets. He sees a fruit bowl on the counter and doesn't hesitate
to grab a shiny red apple.I watch as with one hand he pushes himself up onto the counter against the wall and bites down into the apple. It crunches loudly as he continues to examine the room, he definitely is not in the mood to do any cleaning. I roll my eyes knowing he's not going to be helping me any time soon.
I turn my body away from him and start to walk around the side of counter, my hands moving to collect my hair up into a pony tail. I smooth the hair at the top of my head, as I tie a black band around the hair holding it in place. Pulling a few hairs from the front loose, I stand in front of the sink.
I sigh taking out the retractable tap and start spraying the plates down with water. I grab a sponge and move it in circular movements scrubbing off any stains. All I can hear is the hissing of the running of the water as I clean, the peaceful quiet causes a small smile to play at my lips.
"I missed you."
I almost drop the porcelain plate that I'm holding and my whole body freezes. His dark voice sounds weak and I have to put down the plate before it breaks.
I force out a soft laugh, shaking off his weird comment. "Leo what are you talking about." Even though he can't see me, I roll my eyes.
"It been two days since I last saw you." His low voice comes from the other side of the room and I can tell he sounds a little frustrated.
"Yeah, two days." I exaggerate, my eyes widen as I laugh. God this boy is so weird.
I put the plug in the sink and run the hot water, then pouring in the dish soap to make a bubbly water for the plates to soak in. Once the water is high enough, I wash my hands and then slowly turn off the tap.
I spin around so my back is against the sink and look at Leo, his green eyes are trained on me as he bites into the apple. His tall figure dressed in black shorts and a black t-shirt looks oddly normal, as he sits on-top of the marble counter.
My eyes are narrowed as I talk again, "And anyway we barely talk when we are together. It's not like you're missing out on anything." In that moment I see something flash across his eyes but it's gone within the second I notice it.
His manner changes as his jaw sets hard and I feel the room getting colder. He keeps his piercing eyes on me and I get an uncomfortable feeling.
Trying to diffuse the awkwardness, I clear my throat as I walk over to the counter opposite him. He puts down the fruit next to him and watches me as I hop onto the counter, my hands flat on the cold surface next to me.
I swing my legs back and forward as I look around the room momentarily, before repositioning myself to crossing my legs underneath me on the surface.
"So," I start and he looks up at me, "how was the last two days?"
He sighs, leaning back into the wall as he runs his hand through his hair. "Fucking boring. I hung out with some guys from school, but all they talked about was buying designer clothes or smoking weed." I raise my eyebrows in surprise.
"That's an odd combination of things." I tilt my head to the side confused.
"Well you see," he sits forward and I'm intrigued to see where he's going with this, "you have the posh rich - who only care about clothes and cars. The rebellious rich - who smoke and drink because it goes against their parents wishes," he explains and I nod.
"And then you've got distant rich - the people who of you looked at you would automatically think had money. They try to act normal and don't show of their possessions and wealth."
"Most of the time you don't know much about their home life - they never speak of their family, as though they pretend they don't exist." He looks at dead at me and I know he's read me like a book.
I look away from him trying to steady my heart beat. I clear my throat, "I'm guessing your the rebellious rich then?"
He smirks and leans back, "And why is that Jade?" The way he says my name sends a shiver down my back and I have a bite the inside of my lip to calm my breathing.
I take a few moments before answering, "Well for starters you only wear all black or grey, which is typical rebellion for teen guys." I say and he raises his eyebrows in surprise.
I sit forward, "You walk around this place like you are better than everyone, most of the time your either arrogant or overly confident." This makes him smirk, "You drink and I guess that you smoke in your free time-"
"-Only weed when I'm bored." He interrupts holding up his hand and I roll my eyes. Of course.
"You don't talk about your family and on the off chance that you do, your slagging them off. Which is a clear indication of daddy issues," the word daddy rolls of my tongue and I see something flash across his face before it disappears.
"Which is why you probably do everything you can to disobey them." I sit back letting out a deep breath, happy that I proved that I can read him as well as he can read me.
He keeps a cocky smile on his face as his eyes rake up and down me before meeting my gaze again. His dark voice makes me shiver as he says the next few words, "You know me too well."
